Happy New Year's Eve!!

This is going to be one of *those* where I throw everything in but the kitchen sink:) Here goes! First of all, I won another blog giveaway!!! I won this super cute doll from Wendi Gratz. Her name is Abigail Betsy and I adore her! Thanks Wendi for the awesome giveaway!

Next up, getting ready for New Year's Eve. This has been no easy task, let me tell you! O'Reillys is having a '20s Speakeasy party, so naturally, Natasha and I wanted to dress up as flappers. No big deal; right? WRONG! We ordered some dresses online right before Christmas. They came and were just a little tight. Like too tight to drink all night in -- possibly too tight to sit down and not split a seam in:)
So we went up a size. Even though this is a big bruise on the ego, we had to do it. So, this is what we ended up with:
Natasha's was so big she had to take 7 inches off of EACH SIDE:)
Here is my boxy dress before. Mine fit good on my hips, but just had no shape.
I just shaped mine up a little bit, so it's a much better and flattering fit! I can't wait to get all dolled up tonight and go out. I do have to make a last minute run to Claire's or JoAnn's, though, to get a headband or head piece or something with feathers.
Last but not least, the window picture frame explanation. Jessica had suggested that I tell how I made this, and I am finally getting around to it.
This was actually my mom's idea. She saw the idea in a magazine, I think. She had worked in a glass shop at the time and when they put new windows in somewhere, they would bring the old ones back. Mom kept a few for us to make this with.
All we did is tape the glass, paint crackle stuff over the wood, then paint over that with light paint. That's it for the wood part. Then for the inside, I cut four pieces of cardboard to size to fit in behind the glass. Then I cut strips of coordinating paper to cover the cardboard. Next, I just put pictures and little embellishments all over. Then I stuck the cardboard in, taped the back of them on, and hung it up.
Here is a far away look at it. Don't mind my mess that is everywhere. That is on the to do list for this weekend!
Also, I haven't blogged about them in a while, but Roger & Abby are going to be leaving for Ethiopia the day after we leave for Florida. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers as they are really going on THE Greatest Adventure of their lives. They will leave a family of two and come home a family of three. I am so happy for them!! xoxo
And lastly, we are leaving for Florida in five days! I can't wait to get away from the cold and gloom! I haven't ever been to the ocean, so I am really excited for that. Starting tomorrow I am going to try to blog everyday in January. While we are in Florida, they might be short, but I can blog from my iPhone, so I should be able to manage!
I hope everyone is safe tonight and has a good time! I am working on a "goals" list for 2010. That seems to be the new fad instead of saying "resolutions." I am jumping on the bandwagon, so I will be working on that and posting it soon!
Goodbye 2009, you've been great. 2010 is here and I can't wait!!

Looky Here

This is what Herky and Baxter got for Christmas, the king sized doggy bed. I am sure this would fit two big dogs, but oh well:) They LOVE it! And sometimes we put the heated throw on there too and they will lay there for hours.

Christmas Eve and Christmas

On Christmas Eve, T.J. had to work. Keith, Natasha, and Natasha's mom came to Plainfield and picked me up and then we went to Mooresville to eat at Gray Bros. It's such good home cooking and very cozy!!

After lunch we went ice skating. Nancy & Regina met us there. It was so festive and fun!!

After ice skating, Natasha and I ran a few places for her to pick up some last minute gifts. Then we went to their house for a little rest until T.J. got done with work. Mia and I became best friends!

Keith & Natasha's three dogs look so cute in their Christmas gear, don't they?

After quite a fiasco to figure out where to eat, we ended up at P.F. Changs.
After dinner we headed over to O'Reillys for a private party since the bar was closed. It was so fun for just us to be in there!! I got to play bar tender. As you can see from my pour, it is a good thing I am not doing this for tips!!
Natasha, Regina, and I played the trivia game.
T.J., Brett & Keith played Xbox.
Look at what Natasha got me:
My very own BINGO BAG!!!!! I LOVE it!!
And a Colts dauber! So awesome. You can see my bag is already fully stocked:)
Herky & Baxter got some yummies from the Reilly pets pictured above.
It took them a second to get the hang of eating them since they are flat, but they were very happy gnawing on the raw hide!!
So, as you can see from the pics, I had so much fun on Christmas Eve! Just a fun and festive day with friends. Then I came home to this:
I took the RPR in November. I only need the testimony. I felt pretty good about it. I did a word count and knew it would be close. How close? Well, as you can see, I missed it by one. One mistake. One stupid freaking mistake. I can't believe it. You know what else I can't believe? Why NCRA feels the need to save the results for six weeks and then send them so that you get them Christmas Eve day. Thanks for the downer on Christmas Eve night, NCRA.
On Christmas morning T.J. and I slept in, made homemade mac & cheese, opened a present from my mom & Scott, went and watched Sherlock Holmes at the theater, and then watched National Lampoons Christmas Vacation at home. It was very relaxing and low key. Next year we will be doing Christmas presents, though. It was weird not doing any. I hope everyone had a great Christmas!! xoxo

Merry Christmas, Baby!

So I should maybe explain this a little bit...on our iPhones there is a MouthOff app. T.J. downloads the most ridiculous apps. Anyway, they have a Santa Clause one for the holidays, of course, so I wanted to say this:

Then I thought it would be funny if T.J. and I both did it:

And here is an outtake for good measure:

It's the little things:)

I also wanted to attach our Christmas card insert that we sent out this year.

This has been one of our busiest and fun years yet! This has been our first full year living in Indianapolis, and we are settling in quite nicely. I looked back through my blog posts to remember what it is that we have been up to. This year we:

Went to our first roller derby bout. Got addicted and then unaddicted to spinning. Visited Nashville, Indiana with Mom & Scott. Donated hair. Went to Louisville, KY with Keriann and Derrick where we went to our first shooting range, did the whiskey tour, ate KFC, toured Church Hill Downs, and visited the Louisville Slugger Museum. Walked around the Indy 500 track with Herky & Baxter in the Mutt Strut. Ran the Race for the Cure 5K. Were attacked by a mean goose! Welcomed Kaylan’s new little brother, Dakota, into the world. Rode a two-person bicycle for the first time together. Went to Carb Day and the Indy 500 Parade. Roger & Abby came to town and we all went to the Indy 500. Went to the New Kids on the Block concert with Courtney, Jill, Kari & Nicole. Drove to Le Mars for Drew & Jill West’s wedding. Got Kaylan her first road bike. Went to Vegas to celebrate Mike & Megan Andre’s wedding. Welcomed three new cousins on Kaylan’s side: Walker, Tegan & Ajay. Visited New York City. While there we saw Wicked, the Yankees, Central Park, Hello Deli & Rupert, the NBC tour, the top of the Rockefeller Center, Radio City Music Hall, ate at Juniors, and took the bus tour of the city. Moved from our apartment to a house we are renting, which has a fence! Took up Bingo. Enjoyed T.J.’s parents coming out for a couple of visits this year! Spent the weekend on Put-In-Bay Island, OH with Keriann & Derrick. Rode the Hope Ride on our bicycles, which was over 55 miles. Celebrated Bryce & Jill Halter’s wedding. Got iPhones. Watched our first 3D movie. Became addicted to listening to audio books. Celebrated T.J. turning 30. Were mangy pirates for Halloween. Drove to Springfield to see Roger & Abby, which happened to be the day they passed court and officially became parents to Ari in Ethiopia. Had a great time seeing everyone while we were back in Iowa Thanksgiving weekend.

It is always fun to look back and reminisce over what last year was, but now we are looking ahead to 2010 and all that awaits us! We hope your 2009 was great and that your 2010 is even better. We wish you a Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year!

Christmas Came Early

This year T.J. and I aren't doing Christmas presents. There really isn't any reason for it, we just didn't...maybe next year:) BUT last night after girls night out, I came home to find a package in the mail from my friend, Beth. She sent me this:
And included was a little note saying thanks for inspiring her to be crafty again. Isn't she sweet?!?! I LOVE them!!!! Thanks Elizabeth!
Here they are in all their glory on the fridge:
When we were back in Iowa for Thanksgiving, we celebrated Christmas with T.J.'s family. My MIL and FIL got me this beauty:
It's so awesome!! It has tons of stitches and it's very smart and fancy compared to my old one.
Last night was girls night out to Champps with Jade, Regina, Nancy & Natasha. I forgot to take any pictures...grr! It is always so fun to chat with everyone.
Poor T.J. has to work all day and half the night, as usual. So I am going to have lunch with Keith & Natasha at Gray Bros., which is delicious and very hearty. Perfect for a Christmas Eve meal. Then Nancy and Regina are going to meet us and we are going ice skating! I am pretty excited for this. I just hope I can stay on my feet and not on my butt on the ice the whole time! After T.J. gets done with work, he is going to come and meet us downtown.
It is so weird not going home for Christmas. It doesn't really feel like it's even really Christmas. I think not going home and not buying T.J. presents is throwing me for a loop. It will be nice tomorrow spending the day with T.J.! We have a few things planned, like a yummy breakfast with coffee from the Keurig and then go see a movie. Maybe dinner later if any places are open.
I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas!

Beatle Mania

Last night T.J. & I watched "Angels and Demons" and I made these:

I downloaded them from the Toy-A-Day blog. Every couple days they put new downloads like this up and I think they are so cute. This is my first time making any, though. They have tons of other cute ones too:)

I also made these homemade ornaments. For Christmas from T.J.'s parents I got a new sewing machine. I will blog about that another day. But one of the things I love about it is all the different stitches it can do. I was able to test some of them out while making these.

Something I do when I look at Etsy stores or blogs is e-mail myself a link to things I like. I just went through some of my old e-mails to look at some prints I have e-mailed myself that I like. Below the pictures is a link to the respective store. I just thought I would share some of my favorites:)

Saturday Spent Together

Today we had to run to Bed Bath & Beyond and Kohl's. I know I said yesterday that we were trying to stay away from those places, but it was quick and actually wasn't too bad. Once we got home, T.J. helped me get our Christmas cards done. I have really been struggling to finish them, so he was a HUGE help!! You can see the stacks of envelopes on the table, waiting for Monday morning when I can take them to the post office.

T.J. also helped me make dinner tonight. We had yummy lasagna and wine. It was so fun to have a date night at home:) Herky and Baxter were keeping a close eye on the cooking/eating just in case anything fell on the floor.

Friday Shmriday

I have had one of those days today. So, I really couldn't concentrate and focus on work. Instead I ironed. Wahoo! Look at that stack. It took me over an hour to get all the ironing done. Yuck!! But I am so glad it's finally done.
I got done with my eye spy bags. Here they are:
On the back it tells what's inside.
Then you mush around all the stuff until you find everything on the list.
I got lucky and won this headband made by Fern & Flora from a Gussy blog giveaway!! It's so cute and I can't wait to wear it soon!
Bingo wasn't a total bust tonight. T.J. won this from a raffle:
After Bingo we went grocery shopping just to get it done. We checked out at 11:30 p.m. and it was packed at Wal-Mart. I thought we would be missing the crowds by going tonight instead of this weekend, but I think everyone else thought the same thing. My plan is to stay as far away as possible from any shopping areas until after Christmas!!

Dear Santa,

I enter a lot of blog giveaway contests. I mean A LOT! But never any like this. All I have to do is write you a letter begging, pleading, hoping, crossing my fingers and toes, rubbing my lucky rabbits foot, promising to be REALLY good next year, and then maybe...just maybe I will get what I really want from the Fat Quarter Shop?!?! Which is, of course, the Heather Bailey Nicey Jane Jolly Pack. I mean, who doesn't LOVE all the Heather Bailey stuff? Anyway, Santa, it would be really great to be picked! I haven't ever had fancy fabric before, just the cheap stuff. Oh, I can't wait to see who wins!

I need some input from my peeps -- that means YOU! I am considering starting an Etsy store. I am thinking about selling some sock monkeys, zipper pouches, burp cloths & bibs, maybe some I Spy Bags, etc. Just a little of this and a little of that. What do you guys think? One of the hardest things is pricing. How do I decide how much to sell something for? I think a lot of people do blog sponsorships and giveaways and things like that. I don't quite understand what that's all about, but I am definitely not at that level yet! If anyone has any insight for me into this crazy Etsy crafting world, I am all ears!!!

Keurig Christmas

Merry Christmas to us. We splurged on the latest Keurig model. It's programmable, makes cold and hot drinks. It's amazing. I will be really looking forward to my morning juice more than ever now!!

Heated Throws ROCK!

This is what my view has been the past few days. I work, and they keep me company and get some good rest on their beds. Notice the heated throw that Herky is laying on? That is one of T.J.'s Christmas presents from his parents. That was the main thing he wanted, and he loves it. When he isn't using it, the dogs are. They LOVE it! So since they hog that one all the time, I went to Target last week when they were on sale and bought another one so that I might have a chance to use one every once in a while.

Google Reader Saves the Day!

Okay. I have a confession. Until just a couple weeks ago I haven't ever used Google Reader. I really like going to the blog, seeing the layouts and all the fun colors and everything, blah, blah, blah. Well, my blog reading list was getting a little out of control -- okay. It is a lot out of control...but you can't judge me on my own blog. So, anyway, I decided I had to use Google Reader to cut back on my time reading blogs, and I LOVE it!

So this is just a little recommendation from me to my friends that haven't tried it yet to go for it! It saves so much time not clicking on each blog and going and reading them.
In other you can tell from the time on my post, it's a really exciting Saturday for the McCords! I am so tired tonight and not feeling superb, so I think I am going to go to bed soon. T.J. will be up all night watching the UFC fights. Yee-Haw.
And on a parting note, I just wanted to give the heads up that I am going to be having my very own giveaway soon! Hehe. I hope people sign up to get my free stuff that I made and don't just think it's junk. We will see. If you are my real friend, you'd better sign up!!!

And I leave you with a parting photograph. I saw this on another blog and just love it! If I had a little, I would totally buy it here. Do you think they make doggy ones?

Busted up and broken down

That is the only way I can describe my old trusty glasses here. I am a little unclear on when I got them. I do know that my mom got them for me before I married T.J. so I could be under her insurance still. That means either 2002 or 2003. I only wear them at night right before bed after I take my contacts out. And that is definitely how it is going to stay!
It's kind of hard to see, but there is a crack in the top left of the frame. The other night I was cleaning my lenses and snapped the frame; my lens went flying. So, T.J. got some tape and we mended the problem right then and there. I now wear glasses that are taped together:) I am just hoping that I can go until the spring when our year comes around for insurance without any crazy eye infections or anything that would make me wear these in public!!

Coming in January: Kaylan's NaBloPoMo

So November is officially NaBloPoMo (National Blog Post Month). That is right about the time I really fell off the blogging bandwagon. I don't know for sure what is going on with me, but I haven't been very good about blogging at all. Sooooo, to make up for it, I am going to try to blog every day for the month of January. Better late than never; right? And if I start sucking, I expect some stern comments getting me back on track:) It will be hard since we will be in Florida for a week in January, but at the very least, I can blog from my iPhone.

So we really haven't been up to much. The weather this week was cold with a touch of snow. Nothing like what our friends and families in Iowa got slammed with! I had a job at the Rockville Women's Correctional facility this week. The drive was sketchy starting with rain, turning to snow, then sleet, then windy and freezing. I took the job. Then on the way home it was windy with a little snow. Let's just say I was glad to make it home in one piece for many reasons! This was the first time I have been in a women's facility. I thought it was a little more disturbing than a men's prison, actually. I think it's because I can relate more to them as a woman.

On a happier note, tonight was bingo night. No winnings for us, but Natasha won one. She actually won two but missed the second one. It was a bummer too because it would have been for $175!! Poor T.J. hasn't won yet, but I feel like his time will be here soon!

We don't have any plans for this weekend. I have some work to do. T.J. needs a haircut BAD! His hair is about as long as mine:) Other than that, hopefully some relaxing! Oh, and I think we are going to go stalk this house sometime. I found it online. It is a foreclosure in the Talbot Street area. It is new and never lived in. It has a detached garage in the back with a room above it. **Swoon**
