Well, if you guessed a sack of potatoes for what I was making, you're right!
Yesterday we went to Katie's Dog Grooming for a doggy play date. There was a costume contest and a photographer there taking pictures. The dogs loved it! And they photographer got a really cute picture of Miles and the boys. I will post it as soon as I get it.
I just can't get enough of little Miles. Since getting him on a schedule, I have enjoyed more of his awake time. He is smiling more and cooing. Oh, and I LOVE his bumbo! It's great to put him in it while I am doing stuff in the kitchen. He just watches me and is totally content. I am ready and looking forward to going back to work, but I am really going to miss Miles too. I just can't get enough of him.
Why so many videos in one post, you ask. Well, I was going to post a couple last night but Blogger was being difficult. Then I got these two from today that I love and want to share too. So it's a video overload. Miles really likes looking out the window in his room. It's so cute how he smiles and gets so excited.
My feet are almost back to normal. At least the swelling is gone! They are still about half a size bigger than they were when I first got pregnant. I am still hoping that they will go back to normal! I am not a big shopper, so I don't want to have to buy all new shoes!!
I have a messy purse. I am not good at taking stuff out of it when I get home. I like a bucket purse with one strap. Those are my requirements when picking out a purse.
Back to what's in it. I have my wallet. I now have my checkbook. I never used to carry it, but found a few times I needed it. I also have hair ties, bobby pins, chapstick. I have coupons, my camera, and tylenol. I don't leave home without my cell phone, sunglasses, and ipod with headphones. I usually have a few pens, business cards, and gum. Because I never know if I will have a lunch break or not, I usually have a granola bar or two just in case. It's heavy...really heavy!
I can't believe I forgot to blog about the lastest happenings for our family. T.J. has decided to quit his job and be a stay-at-home dad. We knew his job probably wouldn't work out because his hours are so late and my job can be unpredictable. His last day is Thursday, and I am so excited. It will be so nice to have T.J. at home with our son instead of some stranger.
I am also glad because with them home, I will get to see them a lot more during the day than if Miles was in daycare and T.J. was at work. For my job I am here half the time and out taking depositions half the time. For the time that I am home working, it will be so nice to get to see Miles and T.J. during the day! If a good opportunity becomes available for T.J., he will definitely consider it. But for now, it's daddy and Miles all day long:)
My worst habit is starting a craft project and not finishing it! I usually start a project one day when I'm feeling ambitious. If it takes more than that one day, it's likely it will be hanging around my house for a while waiting for me to get it done. I don't know why I am so bad about this. My mom and sister are very good at finishing their craft projects. Oh, well. I will always have something to do if I ever get bored.
Fabric flowers that I was going to finish before Keriann came out this last weekend. I didn't even touch them!
A Halloween and Christmas rag wreath that I am in the process of making.
A fake pumpkin to carve with the Bears kit. Paper plate with the decorations for the wreath. And under that is a sign to go in Miles' room that will say his name. This is a real pile up of stuff on the wine rack!
A sack full of sewn sock monkeys just waiting to be stuffed and finished.
A shirt I promised to make for Ari. Ahhhh! This one stresses me out because I wanted to make it for Ari and my friends but I hate sewing knits. I will get this done soon. I just hope it's not too small for him by the time I do!!!
Well, I really dropped the bomb on this day. If I was going to tell you about my week, I would seriously have to keep notes all week because I can't remember what I did yesterday. So I am going to go ahead and just do a normal post:)
Here is a picture of our picture wall. We got these frames at Ikea a couple weeks ago and I love how they look on the wall! This weekend we got our professional pictures, so I got a few up on the wall. I broke the glass in the frame on the left when I was cleaning it, so I need to get that replaced. The other frames that are empty I plan on filling with either pictures we take or at his next pictures, which will probably be at 3 months.
Today I read the book Twelve Hours' Sleep by Twelve Weeks Old by Suzy Giordano. I am excited to start using the tips and techniques. Hopefully it works!
Part of the plan is playing for the last four hours that Miles is awake.
Here we are playing with some of Miles' toys.
We are in the process of putting him to sleep right now. The method is to not use anything really, and have the baby learn to put themselves to sleep. This will by far be the hardest thing, I think.
Keriann and Derrick surprised us with breakfast. What a treat!
Here is T.J.'s gift from Miles.
Keriann and Derrick got T.J. a beer sampler with some Red Stripe. We are going to start drinking it now so we are used to it when we go to Jamaica.
Among other things, I got T.J. his first pedicure. He is going to love it!
Miles snuggling with the birthday boy.
We met up with Natasha and her family for lunch and a birthday party. We went to a place called Half Baked Pottery. They had pottery painting, mosaics, and glass fusion. I painted a bowl which I am afraid could be very ugly. T.J. made a cute nightlight for Miles. I want to go back soon to try the glass fusion. It's really neat.
Derrick didn't want to make anything, so he was on baby duty.
Our beautiful pottery. Keriann clearly is the best painter. We have to wait a couple weeks before everything will be done and fired, then I will post the final product pictures.
Last night Miles tried out his Bumbo for the first time. I think we will be using this more often!
Birthday boy and Miles. He had to wear his I <3 Dad shirt on T.J.'s birthday:)
This outfit is 3 months. The onesie is a little loose still, but fits pretty good. He is such a big boy already.
Update on the cupcakes: So the chocolate chip cookie dough cupcakes were delicious and I would recommend them! The oreo cupcakes were a bit much and I wasn't a fan. Other people liked them but just said they were really rich.
Hi, I'm Kaylan, a mom, freelance court reporter, and avid crafter. I'm married to my best friend and the best stay-at-home dad ever. We live in the suburbs outside of Indianapolis. Almost all of our family is back in Iowa except for my sister Keriann and her fiance Derrick. I talk about them a lot on here too; so if you see their names, you will know who they are.
I dabble a little in just about everything and love to blog about all of it. So grab your coffee and your laptop, kick back, and stay a while. Enjoy the show!
