Ari the Great

Today was a fast and fun day with the Wassons. We lounged this morning then went and had lunch at Fuddrucker's.

This afternoon we went to an adoption get together. There were lots of people who had already adopted and some that are interested in adoption. It was so neat to watch all the kids play and interact. We didn't know anyone there, so we did a lot of people watching, which I really enjoy doing:).

Before going home we stopped at Roger and Abby's friends' house who are leaving in a week to bring home their twins from Ethiopia. It is so nice to meet them since I have heard so much about them. I can't wait to hear about their new parenting experiences!!

And last but not least, some pics of Ari! We just used our phones to snap a few so they aren't the best. He is such a happy baby and Rog and Abby are such natural parents. I wish our weekend visit wasn't just about over!!

Meeting Ari

Today we made the drive to Springfield, Missouri to see the Wassons. It was a long drive. We had to stop every two hours since I'm pregnant, which is not our style at all! Usually we stop once to fill up, go to the bathroom, let the dogs out quick, then hustle back into the car. I think we stopped three times today.

Anyway, onto the important stuff! We finally got to meet Ari. He is just as cute (if not cuter) in person -- if you can believe that! His personality is so sweet and fun. I wasn't very good about taking pics today, but I promise I will tomorrow.

We went out for dinner tonight at a place called Maria's. I heard it's Springfield's El Js. Well, it definitely didn't dissappoint! It was soo good!

I am off to bed now. We got little sleep last night, so I am wiped.

One of the Best Days

Today has really been one of the best days I have had in a while. McBaby is doing well and looking great. The new doctor's office is amazing as well as everyone who I saw today. I was there three hours and never had to wait more than 5 or 10 minutes to see doctors, ultrasound techs, etc. The only thing that could have made this day better would have been if T.J. could have been there with me.

Seeing the ultrasound looking good with no signs of the previous separation/hemorrhage that was there was such a relief. The pics that I got really just highlight the head and belly. A few times I was able to see a more profile view and see the arms and legs. Then the ultrasound tech and I were talking and I started laughing and McBaby started moving all around. It was so cool!
We are leaving tomorrow morning for Springfield, Missouri to see Roger, Abby & ARI!!! We are so excited to meet the little fella and hear all about their trip.

Food, food, and more food

I really don't have much to talk about today, so I thought I would just do a post on what I seem to think about quite often these days -- FOOD. Here are some food thoughts.

In real life I am not much of an apple eater. I usually can only eat half an apple and throw the rest away. In pregnant life, I eat an apple a day and I can chow the whole apple.

In real life I drank a Pepsi a day, sometimes two depending on the day. In pregnant life I can't drink Pepsi. It doesn't even taste good. But I am really enjoying Sprite or 7Up.

In real life I ate a lot of meat. In pregnant life I don't eat nearly as much. I blame this on the smell of meat cooking. It totally grosses me out now.

In real life I never ate Chef Boyardee or Campbell's Spaghetti. In pregnant life, I am sadly indulging in this craving. Why do I crave this crap? It's so gross...but so good:)

In real life I really like chocolate, cookies and ice cream. Who doesn't? But in my pregnant life I don't crave it at all. I can eat a little sometimes, but it's not like before when I HAD to eat it.

In real life one of my favorite fruits was bananas. In pregnant life I can't choke down a banana. It makes me gag.

In real life I ate Mexican and Chinese food once a week. In pregnant life I seem to crave more bland options like Applebee's or Perkins. What? Yep. I don't know what that is all about but we still go to El J's -- craving or not!

These are just some examples I can think of off the top of my head. I am not having any real cravings yet -- like peanut butter on pickles or anything crazy like that. Just different from what's normal for me. What were some of your pregnancy cravings? Any crazy ones? I need some ideas! :)

Work Filled Wednesday

Nothing too much has happened today besides me working. I did make a doctor's appointment for Friday at 1:30. Hopefully there will be good news for me to share after that appointment! McBaby is ready for another sighting! I am sure ready to see her/him again:)

I feel like I have had a growth spurt in the last two days...or maybe I am just bloated?!?! Only time will tell. And, my nails are looking fabulous!! I wish I could take better pictures of them to show them off.

Sucky Day

I woke up this morning and was so excited that I was awake before my alarm went off. That NEVER happens. I just knew that today was going to be a great day.

Boy was I wrong!! The first thing was Herky running away from me when I was going to take him to the groomer. He never does this. Usually he will walk to the car door and let me put him in. Today he ran a couple houses down. Grrrr!!!

Then on my way back from the groomer I got a call from the new doctor's office saying they need to cancel my appointment for today. They could reschedule next week but I'd have to go two separate days. That means two more days off of work. Grrrr!!!

Then to top it all off, we went house hunting today. We found a house we liked and were considering making an offer only to find out it already had an accepted offer. Grrrrr!!!

I am really ready for a better day tomorrow!!!!!!!

Ten Sweet Weeks

Today I am working from home. I look gross and plain, so that explains the faceless photo. Today marks ten weeks pregnant for us! I have been feeling the same -- good some days and bad others. We are really excited for our appointment tomorrow with the new doctor!!
After talking with our Realtor, it doesn't sound good for the house I posted about last night. So tomorrow we are going to look at some more, only this time we are looking in Indianapolis in Broad Ripple. I found a few that I like and am excited to see if we like them as much in person! I am so ready to find a house and start nesting:)

House Hunting

For the past couple weeks T.J. and I have been house hunting pretty hard. Our Realtor is on the ball and finding lots for us to look at. She picked us up today at 12:00. We looked at nine houses, getting home around 4:30. I am EXHAUSTED!! We liked three, but really liked two. So we went back to look at the two we really liked and picked our favorite one.
Our favorite is a four bedroom, two car garage, fenced back yard, new appliances, all updated ranch. So, we decided to make an offer. Our Realtor wrote it up an came back over around 8:00 p.m. for us to sign everything. This isn't a normal deal, though. The other Realtor is being strange and not going about things the way he should. Our Realtor thinks he may be representing an interested buyer and the seller, so he doesn't really want our offer coming in. We should know by tomorrow night if we are a primary offer or a backup offer.
We are going to continue looking, though, in case this one doesn't work out. The other ones we liked from today we decided aren't really what we're looking for. I took a couple pictures today because I always have such a hard time remembering details once I leave the house. So here they are:

This is what you see when you walk in the front door:

Super Saturday

This morning I had a work meeting and baby shower for Amy. After that I met T.J., Amber, & Mom at Five Guys for lunch. Then Amber and Mom hit the road. They were going to stay until Sunday but the weather promises to be bad, so they went ahead and left.

We lazied around most of the afternoon. We did go looking around at houses in Indianapolis. We didn't find any that we love, but found some neighborhoods that look promising.

After that we met Keith and Natasha for dinner at a Mediterranean restaurant. It was garlicy and yummy! Then we hung out at the Reillys watching some tv and chatting.

I am exhausted and plan on sleeping in tomorrow!

Oh and I want to give a shout out to my sister for passing out of speed two last week! Yay!! Then the next day she passed a jury charge and testimony take in speed three. Wahoo!!

Mom and Amber

Last night Mom and Amber made it here. I had a job this afternoon but we were able to have lunch together at McAllisters first. Then I went to my job and they went shopping.

After my job I came home and we all got ready for bingo. I had called earlier in the week and the guy told me that Amber could be in at bingo. When we got there tonight, one of the regulars set us straight. No one under 18 allowed.

Sooo we decided to waste some time until T.J. got off work and went shopping. Then we picked him up and went to the Olive Garden. It was really good. I can't help but wonder, why do we wait so long in between visits? Their breadsticks are so good!!!

It's Wednesday already?

So now that Wednesday is almost over, I am realizing that this week is flying by! T.J. was asked to switch hours with someone today, so he gets off at 6. We are meeting Keith & Natasha at El Js for dinner. We definitely have to take advantage of this rare getting-off-at-a-normal-time evening.

Once we get home we have to clean like crazy to get our house presentable for our weekend guests. Mom and Amber are coming out. We have a lot planned -- Bingo and Amber's ear piercing. I hope the weather holds out!

I have been feeling pretty good today and yesterday. Yesterday was my first day with no antibiotics and I think they were adding to my crummy feeling. I hope I don't jinx myself by saying all this. Tomorrow I will probably feel like crap.

And lastly, I wanted to tell you about Swagbucks. A blog I follow talks about these a lot, so I am going to try it. You sign up for an account, then you use their search engine to earn Swagbucks. Then with them you can get prizes or gift certificates, etc. She seems to get a lot of rewards from using it, so it's about time I try it. I signed up under her. She gets one point for each person that signs up under her. Then if you sign up under me, I will get a point and so will see. It's a bit of a pyramid:) BUT, all you have to do is use it to search. Since I search a lot for work, I figure I can use this and see if it really is worth it. I will let you know. If you want to sign up, go HERE and do it. Let's earn free stuff together:)

Snow, snow, and more snow

In the last week, we have gotten lots of snow in Indiana. This winter was very mild until February came! Yesterday T.J. shoveled in the morning and I shoveled in the evening before he got home. This resulted in a firm scolding from my husband. But I explained to him that it was just a little exercise for my lazy self and it was good for me. He was pretty mad. Oh, well.

Yesterday I also went to the chiropractor. Thankfully they are safe to go to while pregnant. I really needed it. I didn't realize how bad I needed it until I left their office.

This morning we made a Wal-Mart grocery run before T.J. went to work. This really is a good time to go since not too many other people were there. It did, however, make me feel like crap. There's something about the simple task of walking that makes me want to puke. Or is it Wal-Mart? I don't know.

I was able to come home and be the most productive I have been in days as far as working goes. So far I have done 100 pages and still going. How many can I do today? Only time will tell. Usually when it comes to work, I am not much of a procrastinator. But since being pregnant and crummy feeling, it definitely has hurt my productivity. I am trying to give myself a new frame of mind and get back on track. Money doesn't grow on trees, you know?!?

And lastly, one of the blogs I read linked to this blog. This is an amazing story. If you're anything like me, it will have you in tears in no time. (And, no, it's not my raging hormones)

Nine Sweet Weeks

Today marks nine weeks for us. I am still growing. Maybe looking a little more like a pregnant belly and not so much a beer gut? It's getting there.
Here are some pics from the show last night. Natasha snapped a couple good ones with her iPhone. The first one is the strong man and the second one is the contortionists.

Last night after the show we stopped at Target to get a body pillow. Last night I had one of the best nights sleep I have had in a loooong time!

Happy Valentine's Day!

This morning we opened our presents. T.J. got me a manicure and a pedicure!! Wahoo!!!
I got him the latest Harry Potter movie...

...and this super cute little onesie. He kept saying, "That's really cute!"

This morning Baxter had a really loud gurgling stomach. It was making weird and loud noises. I was kind of worried. Baxter acted normal but it was just loud. I googled it and found that it probably meant upset stomach and that if he didn't eat much, then I would take him to the vet. T.J. brought him into the kitchen and he drank some water. Then he was kind of burping. Can a dog burp? It was strange. But the sounds stopped, thankfully. We ate breakfast and then afterwards he started eating his food. Phew!

Here are the boys waiting for some peanut butter from dad:)

Posted by Picasa
This afternoon we are meeting up with Keith and Natasha at Grey Bros. in Mooresville. It is such good home cooking! I can't wait! Then we are off to a Cirque de Soleil show downtown. I have only been to the ones in Vegas, so I am excited to see how they transform Conseco for the show.

It Still Counts

On the way home tonight I realized that I was late blogging. I figure it still counts, though, since I'm still awake on Saturday. Technicalities!

Anyway, TJ and I went house hunting today. We did find a nice house in Avon but it already has an offer so I don't know if that one will work out.

Tonight was girls night out. I met a few fellow court reporters downtown at Scottys. It's always fun to get together and chat. After that we went with Keith and Natasha to see Valentine's Day. It was cute!

Another noteworthy pregnancy perk? Look at these fingernails. Hello! My nails have never looked so good!

A pregnancy down side? The super crappy feeling I have had the last two days. My all day sickness seems to have really shown it's ugly face. I hope by getting lots o' sleep tonight I will feel brand new tomorrow.

Happy Valentine's Day!!

Bingo Night

It seems like it's been forever since we've been to bingo. Today I was feeling pretty good and made some chicken alfredo for lunch and went ahead and made some brownies, which I cut into heart shapes. They will be perfect at bingo tonight!

I thought I would showcase T.J.'s Valentine's Day present.

Oh, what is it? What is it?

This is What 8 Weeks Looks Like on Me

Here is a shot of my baby gut.
T.J. said, "But you blocked your face out?!"
Hell yes I did! My skin is a disaster from hormones and not being able to use any acne cream. I worked from home yesterday, so I really don't try too hard when I know no one is going to see me. In the future I will try to take pictures when I am dressed up for work!

When in Doubt...

...throw on a cute picture of the dogs:) Nothing too much new to report today. I did make an appointment at the new doctor's office on the 23rd. T.J. already had that day off, so I wanted to stick with that day if we could so he could come too. We get to do another ultrasound and meet the doctor.

A couple other things on my mind today:

  • Sounds like we are going to owe extra on our taxes besides the estimates already paid in this year...ugh!
  • I really need to get another point and shoot camera since mine called it quits.
  • mmmm...canned spaghetti. I finally got to eat some today.
  • I am trying to keep up with the daily blogging. Can I go all year?

Eight Sweet Weeks

I am so happy to be eight weeks along today! I have been feeling much better with my nausea. It still comes and goes, but doesn't seem to be as bad. Maybe I am just figuring out how to deal with it better. Or maybe my body is adjusting to my newly increased hormones. Whatever it is, I am happy to be sick because it means a good pregnancy, but I am also happy to have a little relief!

I have been thinking about my concern about some itching and discomfort that I was having. One thing that I recently changed was laundry detergent. I had recently bought those Purex sheet things. I think I started having symptoms when I switched to those. So I went back to my regular laundry detergent this weekend. It seems to be getting better. The ER doc said that the antibiotic I am on for the UTI would help with itching too, so maybe it's the antibiotics. I don't know. All that I know is that I am starting to feel more like myself. Except for my ever growing stomach.

Right now I think I just look fat. I have a nice little pouch, muffin top, inner tube, whatever you want to call it. I am ready for it to be a cute baby bump! I bought two pairs of maternity dress pants at Kohl's. I am pretty excited about them! They are so comfortable. My dress pants are the most uncomfortable things I have been wearing. The second in line for uncomfortableness? My p.j. pants. I hijacked a pair of T.J.'s sweatpants last weekend. They were so nice and roomy. I need to go and buy a big pair of men's sweatpants! I spend too much time at home in my "uniform" working to not be comfortable.

I am hoping for a smooth week sailing into week 9!

Colts Lose

Well, we went down to O'Reilly's tonight to watch the Colts lose. It was a good game and lots of fun getting out of the house and hanging with friends. I didn't feel very well this morning, but I think getting out of the house was good for me.

Tomorrow I am going to call another doctor that was recommended to me. The hunt for a new physician is on. We have decided that too many things have happened to make it comfortable for me to continue going to my current one. I am off to bed. I am beat! Just like the Colts:(

Emergency Room Visit

So this morning was my first emergency room visit that I can remember. I think I went when I was little and had a broken arm. Any who, let's go back to the beginning... Remember these key words: Monistat and yeast infection?

Well, yesterday after my job I stopped at the pharmacy and bought my Monistat 7. Let me also state that I had very mild discomfort, mostly bugging me at night. Nothing too bad, though. Fast forward to about 10:00 p.m. T.J. and I were sitting down to watch a movie. I decided to apply some of the cream because you can apply it to the outside areas up to two times a day. It made the itching worse and was burning. We decided that that meant it was working.

Right before bed, I inserted the Monistat like you are supposed to. It was hard to fall asleep, but my Unisom kicked in and I was in full slumber in a few minutes. I woke up at 4:00 a.m. with the worst itching feeling down there. It was burning pretty bad too. I got up and went to the bathroom, laid back down for about 30 seconds and knew it was worthless. There was no way I was going to fall back to sleep. I decided to take a shower and go to the ER.

We got 6+ inches last night and so lucky for me, T.J. got up and drove me. I get through my appointments way better when T.J. is with me! Soooo, I get to the ER, the doc needs to do a pelvic exam. Yippee! I had to give a urine sample too. So this may get a little too descriptive, but you've been warned. You know when they insert the speculum to be able to get samples, etc.? Well, when he did that, it hurt so freaking bad. I had huge tears running down my face. It probably took him 30 seconds, but it felt like 5 minutes.

He said it probably hurt because of my reaction I was having to the Monistat and that I was swollen. We had to wait around for about an hour for some test results. They did a yeast test -- negative. So all of this was for nothing. Awesome! He asked if my doc who told me to use the Monistat did a yeast test. He sure didn't. Then he said that I have a urinary tract infection. Then he asked if they are having me give urine at my appointments. They sure aren't. I did my first appointment and that's it.

He also said that the number one preventable cause of miscarriage is a urinary tract infection. So I got some antibiotics and have done nothing today. After we got back home, which wasn't until 8:30 a.m., I went back to bed. I have been pretty worthless all day, just feeling like crap. They did some cultures and I should know the results of them by Monday. I am thinking about finding another doctor's office. I don't know. We'll see.

For the men in my life that are reading this -- sorry for all the lovely female reading material! I hope to not have too many more stories of this nature.

Friday Appointment

My appointment today went well. T.J. got to go with me and we got to see our little bean-o. It is getting much bigger and looking more and more like a baby each day:) We also got to hear the heart beat for the first time today, which was awesome!!

While in the ultrasound room, the tech pointed out a few things. I have a bit of separation and she had thought one of my cysts and ruptured, but it hadn't. The doctor said to have fluid from the cyst is normal. He also said that the separation is what probably caused my bleeding and that I may have a little more bleeding in the next couple weeks. He said that if I didn't have the separation spot that my chance of miscarrying would be 1.5% to 2% but since I have that it is maybe at 4%. He said that everything looks good and is very reassuring.

Also, this is maybe too much information, but it's what's going on in my life and I am going to blog about it. I have a yeast infection. I haven't ever had one of these before and it is pretty painful. The doctor said that my body is metabolizing carbs differently and that's probably why I got it. After my job today I am stopping to pick up some Monistat. He said that should do the trick:)

We are supposed to get a big storm here this weekend. I think we could get up to 5 inches of accumulation. I just hope the snow holds off until I get back from my job tonight.

Happy Friday, everyone!! Have a good weekend!

This is how I am feeling today. Actually right at the moment I am feeling a little better. I just had a roll dipped in ranch. Are my new eating habits making you want to barf yet? I am sorry I keep writing about food, but it is my biggest focus right now. I went to the store today and bought lots of frozen food and boxed food. These are the only things that I can even think about eating.

Speaking of going to the store. So I went to Wal-Mart at 4:00 p.m. on a Thursday, the day before a snow storm moves in, three days before the Super Bowl. What was I thinking? It was crazy! Between the moms with four kids running around their carts and all the blue-hairs and the people on those rascal motorized carts, I was about to lose it.

Another item that I have been thinking sounds good lately? You know the Chef Boyardee spaghetti in the can? I used to eat that cold with sliced cheese and cheese Pringles. Gross huh? Well, it sounds sooooo good! I think I will have some of that this weekend:)

You know what doesn't sound good at all? All my favorites: Mexican, Buffalo Wild Wings, and cheese dip. These hormones are wreaking havoc on my eating habits:)

What's for Dinner?

So I thought I would share what a typical dinner has been for me in the last week. I don't have any real cravings yet, but definitely some food aversions. Nothing sounds good at all. I seem to lean towards very bland. Also, Pepsi doesn't even taste good anymore. I guess that's a good thing, but I get pretty sick of drinking water.

My #1 favorite thing for the last week: bread, toasted, buttered, garlic salt. I don't know where this new favorite is coming from, but I can't get enough of it!
My #2 favorite thing for the last two days: Chips with chucks of sliced cheese, dipped in ketchup. This is taking it back old school. I am pretty sure I haven't had this since high school. I can't seem to get enough now!
My #3 favorite thing for the last two days: broccoli and cheese from the Jolly Green Giant. This seems to be about the only healthy thing that I can bring myself to eat. And by healthy I am talking about the broccoli, please ignore the coating of cheese:)
My #4 favorite thing: cheap and easy pasta. I can't seem to get enough pasta whether it's spaghetti, macaroni & cheese, or these bag of noodle packet things.

Updates and Corrections

I have a correction to make from my earlier post. I thought I had an appointment this Wednesday for my OBI appointment, but it's next Wednesday. So hopefully I won't be going back to the doctor's office until Friday. My first appointment was last Tuesday, and in the last six days, I have been there four times. That's just a little excessive, don't you think?!?!

Also, I didn't leave the doctor's office today until around 1:15 p.m. I left my doctor's office around 10 to go and get my shot of Rhogam. Three hours and fifteen minutes later I had my shot and was out of there. I also got a $10 Target gift card because I think they forgot I was there and they apologized a lot, etc.

I forgot that I had taken this picture on my way to my appointment this morning. It's kind of hard to see, but there's a rainbow just above the trees in the middle. It made my morning seeing it. After I got home from my appointment, I had a little surprise waiting for me. Mom was able to get these Uggs for $50 from someone in Baxter who had a connection. I am excited to have my first pair of Uggs and to have them only cost a fraction of the price:)
I have had a couple people ask if the doctor's office is going to call with the blood results. My doctor didn't say anything about it today. He basically said that it didn't mean much now. I think it's because the bleeding stopped. We are just hoping to hear good news on Friday!
Today I am seven weeks along.

Waiting, waiting, & more waiting

I had my doctor's appointment this morning at 9:25. TJ came with me and drove separately so he could be here, which made the appointment ten times better.

We got in to see my doctor (who I saw last Tuesday, not the same one I saw on Friday). He just looked at my charts and things and asked me how my bleeding was, which has pretty much stopped since Saturday afternoon.

He said that everything was looking reassuring and that 20% of women bleed in the first trimester and then go on to have healthy babies. I asked about the lower heartbeat that was seen on ultrasound and he said that could happen.

I also asked about the blood test results that they drew on Friday and Sunday, but they didn't have the results from Sunday yet to compare.

He said that I need to go back on Friday at 9:00 for an ultrasound. That way TJ will be able to go with me again. I also go on Wednesday for an OBI appointment which can take a couple of hours. I feel like I have been here everyday for the last week and a half!

The other thing I have to have today is a Rhogam shot. I had to have this shot with both D&Cs that I had before. It's something that keeps your blood from mixing with the baby's blood, which can be bad for me and my immune system. They are doing it as a precaution since I'm bleeding.

Soooooo, at 10 when my appointment was done, I came down to labor and delivery to get this shot. It's 11:30 and so far I have been registered and had blood drawn. They just said that it could take another hour before they will have the shot ready. This is seriously the most frustrating thing -- the waiting!!

I don't really have any news, just wait and see. Hopefully everything will work out!!
