Busy, Busy, Busy

That's all I can say about today! I got Big Daddy turned in, which is really what took up most of my day. Between that, making a Target run, blowing my nose, refilling my water glass a million times, going to the chiropractor, having dinner at Applebee's, and then blogging, my day has been so busy. I wish I had just a few more hours to finish up a few things with work and clean up my desk a little. It is a disaster. Maybe T.J. will have it all clean for me when I get home;)

It's almost midnight and I haven't packed yet. My flight leaves tomorrow morning at 10:05 a.m. Hopefully packing won't take too long and I can actually get a good rest. Sometimes when I am so busy I can't shut off my brain. Please not tonight!
Here is our new camera I bought today. I didn't want miss anymore photo opportunities without one!

Iowa here I come!!

Maternity Wardrobe Expanded

I have been working on expanding my maternity wardrobe. Let the hallelujah chorus sing! I thought I would last longer in my normal shirts, but it is becoming more and more uncomfortable and ugly, which makes me look fatter and dumber (in my mind, at least)! I got lots of new shirts:
And a pair of shorts and two pairs of pants:
Gap Maternity will be seeing more of me, I'm sure, when I am sick and tired of the seven shirts I bought. Let's hope they last me a little while, though!

On the health front -- I seem to be getting worse. I was hoping it was allergies, but I think it might be some kind of a sinus infection something-or-other. On my way home from my job my whole head was aching, including my teeth. It was terrible. I took some extra strength Tylenol. Then when I got home I took a Claritin, which I think helped a little, but am still really stuffed up. After taking that I started coughing a lot. I don't want to be sick when I go back to Iowa!! I hope to wake up tomorrow feeling like a new woman after sleeping with our new humidifier!

Fifteen Sweet Weeks

Last night I had one of the worse nights of sleep EVER!! I slept a good three hours and then I couldn't get comfortable for anything. My back was hurting so bad. It was at the bottom of my ribs where my kidneys are. I thought for sure I had a kidney infection or a UTI. It was so annoying to not be able to sleep!

So I made an appointment, canceled my job today, and went to the doctor. The tests came back negative for an infection, which is a relief. But then why the back pain??? Well, basically I have a weak back and core. I need to do some crunches and back exercises. The nurse practitioner said that if I am having back problems this early on, it's only going to get worse. Yippee. So crunches it is.

Sick Sundays

That seems to be the motto lately. Usually that comes after Staying Up Too Late Saturdays. I have got to stop doing that!!! I felt good this morning, except for my throat, then started feeling worse and worse. I took a nap and woke up with a terrible headache. What a waste of a weekend!! I have got to start going to bed earlier on Saturdays -- lesson learned!

I was able to get lots of work done this weekend. I was hoping to get more of Big Daddy done, but today wasn't too productive. Big Daddy is what I named my transcript from Friday:)

My throat is really sore today. It feels like strep or something. I hope it will go away before my trip back to Iowa! I really don't want to be sick. That would be such a bummer.

Today I made homemade pizza for dinner. I have been craving this forever, but we keep forgetting to get the stuff when we go to the store. T.J. made a special trip to get the ingredients. I was so excited because it sounded soooo good! Then, I went and burnt it. It was okay, but not as good as I was hoping.

Tomorrow morning we are going to sign up for a gym membership at a new gym. It is close to where our new house is. I need to start exercising more! I will probably start by just doing a little bit of walking or elliptical machine and add a few weights. I hope this helps me feel better and have more energy!

Now I am off to McDonald's for an ice cream cone. It sounds so good for my throat. Then it's watching some taped shows and off to bed.

Champps Fight Night

Today was pretty boring. I worked all day and T.J. ran a few errands. Pretty low key. There was a UFC pay-per-view last night at Champps, so we headed down last night to watch that. We met Keith, Natasha & Lydia for dinner and the fights. I didn't watch any of the fighting, but just chatted instead.

After the fights were over, we headed to O'Reilly's for a nightcap(for T.J., of course)! It's another late night. One of these weekends I am going to go to bed at 10:30 p.m. every night and stay on some kind of a schedule!

Oh, and before I forget...I did have some kind of a mental break today while getting ready to leave. My casual wardrobe is really lacking. I need to go shopping! I have a few outfits for work, but haven't bought anything for casual wear yet. This week I have to go and buy some bigger, stretchier shirts. Otherwise, I will have two outfits to wear while I am back in Iowa next weekend. The Gap is calling my name!

The Never Ending Day

Today started off just like any other day. Hitting snooze one time too many, hurrying to get ready, T.J. making me a PB&J for lunch, rushing out the door, driving to job, arrive at job. Now here is where the day gets interesting. My job today was in a very interesting law office. It was a big old house in an older run-down neighborhood. I was a little nervous to go in, so I waited until it was closer to the time the deposition was to start and then headed in. Thankfully it was fine and everyone was really nice.

The job was scheduled from 10-2. I had big plans today. Be done by 2, head home, work on 150 pages, send to proofreader, work on job from today. I probably wouldn't have been able to get to that last one, but what can I say? I am an overachiever. My goal? Have everything to my proofreader by the end of the weekend.

So what's the problem? My 10-2 job today went from 10-6:30 with no lunch break. Thank goodness for that PB&J!! My estimation of 100-150 page job today has turned into a 350 page beast that I still am going to try to get through this weekend. Wish me luck!!

So I headed home, let the dogs out, went to JCPenneys, met T.J. there, went to Olive Garden, ate a later dinner, headed home, took shower, checked e-mail and blogs, and last but not for today. This day just seems looooong. It's not that it hasn't been a good day, because it has. It's just that my body is telling me it's had enough!

One last thing, speaking of my body:) I seem to have had a little growth spurt the last couple days. My stomach seems to be getting a little bigger and harder at the bottom. It's weird. T.J. and I were talking about at dinner tonight how two years ago when we were trying and not able to get pregnant, I was obsessed with it. We talked about it all the time and I thought about being pregnant and being a mom all the time. Now that it is happening, I am kind of surprised how laid back I am about everything. I am a planner. It's inherited. If you know my mom, you know what I am talking about. I haven't done anything to prepare for this baby. I am thinking maybe once I am half way I will get my butt in gear and start decorating a room, doing a registry, thinking about baby names, etc.

Now I am off to bed to put this day to rest!

Hard Work and My Helpers

Today I have been so productive! I got tons of much needed work done, cooked lunch and dinner, and emptied out the dishwasher. That's more than I have done all week!!! I don't know what was in my Wheaties this morning, but I hope it's there tomorrow too.

It was kind of cold in the house all day today, so this is what the dogs did all day:
Did you notice Herky has his arm around Baxter? I just noticed that.
They would get out of bed, then jump right back in it and snuggle up together.
Doesn't Herky look creepy in the next one? haha
They are smiling for the camera in this one:

Eyeglasses and Ivy Tech

This morning T.J. and I both had our appointments. Both of our eyes stayed the same, which is always good. I had to get new glasses because I broke my old ones a couple months ago. I am so ready to say sayonara to these:
I always have to be careful with the lens b/c it will fall out. I think I did a pretty good tape job too.
Tonight we are going to an info night at Ivy Tech for T.J. Hopefully we can get there a little early and talk to an advisor/admissions rep/financial aid person. It's stressful to do this back to school stuff. I hope it all works out! Cross your fingers.

New 'Do

After quite a bit or persuasion from my husband, I finally went and got my haircut. I have been putting it off since I have had so many other appointments and things lately. I had the day off on Tuesday and they were able to squeeze me in, which NEVER happens! I got some blond highlights and a cut. My bangs aren't quite what I was wanting, but they are okay. Now I just need a tan!

Fourteen Sweet Weeks

Hello second trimester! So far it has been spent not feeling too well. My stomach doesn't seem to be working -- if you know what I mean! I read online that this can be a symptom in the first trimester, but why, oh why is it happening to me now? I really need to be loading up on good things like carrots, apples, and broccoli, but why is it that all I want is a PB&J or a fried tenderloin sandwich?

Anyway, this morning T.J. tried taking a picture with my iPhone, and I think it sucks. Not having a flash gave me a serious shadow. If we weren't so indecisive and cheap, we would already have another camera by now. I really need to get one before the trip back to Iowa. I guess that gives us a deadline. Or I might just be posting a bunch of grainy, dark iPhone pictures from that trip too. We'll see.

Blah, Blah, Blah

That is how I am feeling today! I slept in, took a nap, and am ready to go to bed now and it's only 5:20 p.m. I feel pretty crummy today! I had big plans to get lots of work done today, but it's just not happening:(

I was just reading through my blogs and read this post. I think this story is simply amazing. I have been following this family for quite a while now...since before they had their kids. I think adoption is so wonderful and life-changing, especially to the family that adopts the child(ren). I hope I get the chance to experience it some day!

Super Saturday

Today was probably one of the most productive Saturdays I have had in a while. T.J. and I got up bright and early and went straight to work. We cleaned out both cars and the garage. Then we moved all the stuff from the shed into the garage. I had even bigger plans, like to move stuff out of our third bedroom out to the garage and go through my clothes, but my back/butt started hurting, so I didn't.

We had lunch, got cleaned up, and went to Target and Hobby Lobby. Then we came home, rested for an hour or two, grilled out steaks, then headed up to the north side. We had a surprise birthday party for Chuck Keane to go to. It was a lot of fun, even though I didn't bowl. (my back/butt was really cramping my style)

After that we headed downtown for a nightcap at O'Reilly's. I had some water and T.J. had a couple Smithwicks. Some of our friends went to the JayZ concert, so we met them down there afterwards. It was an unintended late night. I will be sleeping in tomorrow!

These days...

...I have been feeling better and better. Today I had a job until about 4, then came home, had dinner and got to work. I got a doctor's dep out of the way that I have been dreading. So glad it's done! Hopefully I can keep this up and get back on my old work schedule!

Tomorrow T.J. and I are planning on cleaning out our cars and the garage. We are going to start moving totes and stuff we don't use out to the garage so that when we do move it will be easy to just move stuff from the garage. Hopefully this makes the move a bit easier!

I also really want to go through all my clothes. I am kind of a pack rat when it comes to my clothes. You never know when you might want to wear that shirt again! You know what I mean? Well, being pregnant has really narrowed down what I wear, so I just need to take this opportunity to de-clutter!

I hope everyone has a good weekend!

House Inspection

Today was our home inspection. Let me start of by saying that I felt like crap the whole time. Last night we went down to O'Reilly's to hang out for St. Patrick's Day. I was pretty excited to go since I had my new shirt and because it's been so long since we have gone down there to hang out now that I'm knocked up.

So, we were out later than I am usually up, which could be a little of why I felt so bad today. But I really think I can chalk it up to being in a smokey bar all night. It's the only thing that would make sense. I was up late when my sister was here and didn't feel bad the next day. But this morning I felt like I had a crazy night out drinking and had a killer hang over. From now on when we go out, I need to sit by the window or door to get some fresh air.

Back to the house. The inspection went well today. Only a couple of things were found and hopefully we can work something out with the seller. Since I hadn't taken any pictures before, I took gobs of them today. I took over 100 on my iPhone, so the quality isn't great but I made it up in quantity:)

A few things to note so that you aren't confused by the layout. It's a split level house, so it has three living levels. The basement or first level is where the garage is. Then there is the basement room, which is where my office will be (we are copying what they have). There is also a bathroom, laundry room, and the door to the garage. There is a fireplace in the basement. This house has two staircases from the basement level to the second or main level. One is when you walk in the front door and the other is when you walk in from the garage. The pics of the basement are below:

The main level of the house has a living room, dining room, and kitchen. The living room has a bay window and a big built-in entertainment center. The dining room has a door, which leads to the deck. Then there's the kitchen.

The upstairs or third level has three bedrooms and a bathroom. The bathroom has double sinks, which we are pumped about. I didn't attach any pictures of the bedrooms because they are so hard to photograph. All the bedrooms have hardwood floors and double closets in each room.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Tonight we celebrated with our favorite Irishman. See pic of TJ and him below:).

Walking and a Talking

Today was an awesome day here! It was sunny and fabulous.

I had an afternoon job that was over by 4:45. Then I headed home, leashed up the pups, and went for a walk. Yay for daylight savings!

We went three miles. By the end of it, my rear was really hurting! My sciatic nerve is getting on my nerves! I need a prenatal massage bad.

In the middle Baxter started giving my the kill-me-now eyes, so we took a little break for the boys to catch their breath. My plan was to get them all worn out so they'll sleep good tonight. They wake us up at least three times a night, and it's getting out of hand. Hopefully this will take care of that:)

Thirteen Sweet Weeks

I've made it! I am in my last week of the first trimester!!!! Yippee!!!!!!
I was going to have T.J. take a picture today, but he was sound asleep when I left for work. Maybe in the second trimester we can get this figured out.

Boring Day

Nothing exciting to report here. I have been working most of the day. I did take a quick break, though, to go for a walk with T.J. and the boys. It was just around the block, since it was pretty cold here today. I miss the weather we had last week and want it back!! I will be 13 weeks tomorrow. Yippee!!!!!

College Questions and Shopping

This morning we went to Ivy Tech and talked to an advisor about T.J. going back to school. He is just starting the process so he needs to apply and do a few other steps before we can really get some questions answered. We did find out a few things, like what classes he has already taken should transfer.

After that we went furniture shopping. We haven't been furniture shopping in a long time and wanted to look for a few things that we want to get eventually. Not right away or anything, but hopefully sometime. For instance, a king bed!

After we got home I wasn't feeling too well so we laid in bed and watched Modern Family, which was really funny!

Herky and Baxter got some texting in:)

Spoiler Alert!

McBaby is already super spoiled! I have a feeling that being the first grandchild for all of our parents is going to create some serious spoiling.
Here is what McBaby has received from Grandma Barb:

And Grandma Julie:
Here is who is lacking attention already:
Posted by Picasa
Today has been quite a day! I went to my doctor's appointment, met the doctor for the first time, heard the baby's heartbeat, and had blood drawn. I lost five pounds since my last appointment, which was only two weeks ago. It's probably because I have been able to eat better finally since I have been feeling better! No more canned spaghetti.
Today we signed the counter offer that we received on the house. So, as official as it can be right now, we are home owners! We are so excited!!!!!!!

No news is good news; right?

Well, we haven't heard anything about the house yet. Laura said she would call us as soon as she knows anything, so hopefully bright and early tomorrow!

In other news, I did book a flight back to Iowa Easter weekend. I am pretty excited to fly and not drive, and I got a good price on my ticket! So for anyone who wants to come out for a visit but doesn't want to drive, look up tickets for flights with AirTran on Orbitz. I am flying round trip for $202!

Hopefully tomorrow I will have some good house news to share!

We made an offer!

That's right. We found a house in Plainfield that we are in love with and we made an offer. I don't have any pictures yet, but it's really nice and has been completely redone. The only room that we would even need to paint would be the nursery. The only thing that we would need to do to the house is put up a fence. I have been spoiled for the last year living here with a fence for the first time and I definitely don't want to go back!

The house isn't on the market yet, so we are getting first dibs. I hope this means that they will accept or at least counter with a good offer. I am a little nervous about moving all our crap. Usually we are pretty fast and good at moving, but now that I move a little slower and have a little catch in my hip/back I am worried at how productive I will be. It will probably take us longer than normal to get all unpacked, but oh well.

The sellers have until noon on Friday to get back to us, but hopefully we will hear from them sooner. I will post on here as soon as I know anything:)

Dentist Drama

Not really drama, just the usual cleaning. They have been wanting T.J. to come in now for a crown re-do and filling, then he needs to go to an oral surgeon to have a wisdom tooth removed. Well, he is finally going to get it done. The appointment is made. I have been having some sensitivity on some of my back teeth when I eat certain foods and was nervous I had a cavity. Luckily, I am clear for another six months. I went ahead and made an appointment. It's for exactly one week before my due date. I am pretty sure I will be rescheduling that:) I do love that oh-so-clean feeling you get after going to the dentist!

Twelve Sweet Weeks

When I look down at my stomach or look at it in the mirror, I don't feel like I am getting much bigger. But then I take a picture and compare it to the last few weeks and can't believe how big it is getting. I go to another doctor's appointment this Friday for a check up and to meet the doctor. At the last appointment I saw a nurse practitioner. Then I shouldn't have to go back for a month.

Keriann Goes Home, TJ Gets Home

This morning Keriann and I went on another walk. It feels so good to get out and get some fresh air! I wish she could stay here and go on walks with me all the time!! We tried to take the dogs with us again, but after just getting out of our complex Baxter decided that he wasn't doing it and just quit walking. So, we took them home.

Once we got back, I made lunch and Keriann got all packed up. Then she hit the road. It was so fun having her here! This weekend would have been extra lonely without her here. We were able to get so many fun crafts made too!!

I picked up T.J. around 7:15, we got Quizznos, then headed home to relax. It's great to have him back home safe and sound! I am ready to be productive this week! I have been feeling better and better every day, so hopefully I can get lots of work done and cleaning and cooking and...the list goes on and on.

Final Craft Day -- Phew!

Today has been such a busy and fun day! This morning Keriann took the doggies and I on a three mile walk. The boys were sure tuckered out when we got home! We cleaned up, had lunch, and then got busy sewing. First up, the binky clips. These were super easy. Then we made the pot holders.
To finish up the day we made these baby blocks.
We made three sizes. Half are girl blocks and half are boy blocks.
We just got done cleaning up our mess. We have been watching movies all day while sewing. Marley and Me just finished up. It's such a tearjerker. Now I am going to plant myself on the couch with my new rice bag on my tushy. My back/butt hurts on the left side. It's so bad that if I sit on the floor, sometimes I really am not sure if I can up by myself. I love having Keriann here to make crafts with! It is so much more fun and goes so much faster. Until next time...

Rice and Grocery Bags

This afternoon Keriann and I made these rice bags. I have been wanting to make one for a while, but I have quite a list of things to make!
The rice bag directions found HERE! They were easy and so cute. After seeing Betsy's post about making one and taking it to the hospital to help with labor, I had to make one.
Then we decided to make these grocery bag holders.
The directions for these grocery bag holders can be found HERE:) This will spice up my pantry for sure!!

This morning I dropped off T.J. at the airport and he made it to Des Moines safely. We probably won't fly if we go back together, but for the random times when we go alone, flying is definitely at the top of my list!

Tonight was Gordy's visitation with the funeral tomorrow morning. I am so glad that T.J. was able to be in Iowa with his family this weekend.

Burp Cloths Galore

Today Keriann and I made burp cloths -- 27 to be exact. I got the pattern from HERE. I still need to wash and dry them so the edges fray up.
Today Keriann got to come sit in on a job with me. She didn't write and just watched and observed. Tomorrow she is coming with me again and is going to write on her machine. T.J. is leaving tomorrow morning to fly back to Iowa. We are going to drop him off before heading to the job. Stay tuned for lots more crafts this weekend:)

Sad News

This morning we received some sad news. T.J.'s Uncle Gordy passed away this morning at his home. It was completely unexpected and so sad. We aren't for sure when the funeral is going to be, but T.J. is probably going to fly back for the weekend to be with his family. I wish I could go too, but I don't think I am really up for that long drive again and it's pretty expensive to buy two plane tickets.

Please keep T.J.'s family in your prayers, especially his Grandma Patty, who Gordy lived with.

Keriann is Here!

Today I went to the chiropractor and got all straightened out, which I REALLY needed. It always feels so good to go! Otherwise, I worked all day.

The exciting news is...Keriann got here a little bit ago! She is on her spring break from school, so she decided to come out for a visit. It is such a long drive, so we sure appreciate her coming all this way. She brought a few of my favorite Iowa foods with her -- beer cheese soup from Noodle Zoo, my favorite sandwich from CJs, and A&E chip dip. I already had some chips and dip. I can't wait for lunch tomorrow!!

11 Sweet Weeks, Seven Years, and Abby & Ari

Today marks 11 weeks being pregnant! I have been feeling better and better the last week. It is nice to start feeling "normal" again. I still have moments of queasiness or tummy aches, but it's getting better! It's getting harder to take these pictures by myself. I can't turn very well and still get a good shot. I am going to have to give T.J. a little lesson and then have him take them from now on:)
Today marks our seven year wedding anniversary. I can't believe it's been seven years already! Today we drove back from Springfield, unpacked and showered, then headed downtown. I had to take some exhibits in to my office, so we made a date out of it and had dinner at Champps.
And last but not least, a super cute video of Ari. Abby and Roger are so good at making him laugh! We can't wait to see them again in May!!
