Nineteen Sweet Weeks

This is the only mirror in our house right now that I can get a picture with my belly. I need to get my full length mirror hung! I look kind of big in this picture. Why is it that you don't realize something about yourself until you see it in a picture?

This Friday is our ultrasound appointment. We can't wait to see the baby!! I also am really excited because T.J. hasn't met our new doctor yet.

Convention and Moving

I have had a whirlwind weekend and I am sure it is continuing through the week. Friday I had a quick job, then hit the road with Natasha and Maria for a convention in Missouri. It was a Midwest Reporting convention that our firm got invited to. It was very informative and refreshing. I like going to conventions because I think it gets you excited about bettering yourself in your profession. I learned some new things that I look forward to implementing with my software.

The convention was over Saturday afternoon, so we headed back to Indy for the start of our moving suckfest. T.J. and Keith had already taken a load of furniture over to our new house by the time we got there. They took another load and had managed to get all of the big, heavy stuff out of our house and into the new one! We took them out to dinner at El J's, then stayed our first night in our new house with our mattresses on the floor and not a whole lot else in the house.

On Sunday T.J. and I got up and got busy. It rained all day. We made three trips from our old house to the new house with the truck. I think I did pretty awesome on the first load, lost some steam on the second load, and just plain stunk on the last load. By the end, my back/butt pain was so bad I had a hard time shifting my car when we took the truck back. T.J. was a rock star and did so much work! What a relief to have that done!!

Between the first and second loads we had some stuff to drop off at Goodwill. We stopped there and then headed to Sam's Club and bought a king mattress and box spring. Yippee!! It is still in our garage waiting for Mom and Scott to get here so Scott can help carry it up.

After taking the truck back, we had a nutritious dinner of Taco Bell, and then started unpacking. Our bedroom is unpacked as much as we can. Then we unwrapped our new couch. Then we sat on the couch and T.J. read the weather, made lists on his phone, and told me people's tweets while I dosed off.

Mom and Scott are going to be here Wednesday afternoon. I am so glad that they are going to be here to help! If they weren't coming, I have a feeling our house would be in disarray for a long time!

The dogs have been acclimating fairly well. Herky moved right in and made himself at home, finding his favorite spots already. Baxter, on the other hand, hasn't adapted as well to his new surroundings. He doesn't like the hardwood stairs and refused to go down them yesterday. He would stand at the top of them and just whine and whine and whine and...you get the picture. By the end of yesterday, he was starting to not go up them either. Today he has gone up and down one set into the basement a couple times. I think it's just taking him a little longer to get used to them.
Here is one of their favorite new spots in the house.

There are a lot of older people in our neighborhood and a lot of them that go on walks during the day. I am noticing quite a few families out with kids and dogs now that it's evening. This keeps the dogs busy on their "neighborhood watch."

T.J. came home for lunch today and said that my desk already looks like "normal." I asked what that meant, and he said because it's so messy already. It's not THAT messy, is it?

Tomorrow I plan on posting some pictures of the house in it's crazy, messy, ugly state. Then when we get all organized and cleaned up and decorated, I will post new pictures to show the transformation.

One last story...my mom asked me today if we have met any of the neighbors. We haven't. The rain yesterday probably kept everyone inside. But it didn't mean they weren't curious. As we were moving stuff in, I came out of the house and looked at the house across the street only to see a man standing in a bedroom window of his house looking out at us. Then I looked away and looked back and he was gone. Welcome to the neighborhood! :)

On the Move

With our move getting closer and closer, my stress level seems to be getting higher and higher. We have been super busy with work the last couple weeks, I am going to a work conference in St. Louis this weekend, we are also moving this weekend. See why I am a little stressed?

Tomorrow I leave for St. Louis, get all educated, then come back to hopefully all the furniture moved to our new house. Keith is awesome for coming over to help us out!!! Natasha and I should get back late on Saturday. On Sunday T.J. and I are going to finish moving most of our stuff over. Then this next week we will need to come over and clean and get anything remaining at our old house.

Mom and Scott are coming out Wednesday and will be a huge help in unpacking and getting organized and settled. I am ready to be in and done and get in a normal routine again!

Wish List Wednesday

It's been a while since I did one of these, but I have an overflowing wish list that I thought I would share. Why doesn't money grow on trees?

King mattress and box spring

dressers for our bedroom from Ikea

Rocker for baby's room.

Crib

Cute abacus in CB2. It's too expensive, but maybe I can make one of these!

Dining room table and chairs.

A beautiful fence for our yard. I wish for wood, but it will probably be the black chain link fence.

Giveaway and Parking Garage Ticket

First of all, there is a giveaway going on at Lil Blue Boo (one of my favorite blogs)!! It is for a cute custom made girls dress. If you want to check it out, click HERE.

Now for the parking garage story:

A couple weeks ago I lost this precious ticket. I was so bummed because it was a short depo. A depo at a hospital, where parking is cheaper than at some of the other downtown parking garages. I was excited to see that parking wasn't going to cost me a large amount for the day -- $2.50.

I got in the car and realized I couldn't find the ticket. Where could the stupid ticket have gone? I got out of my car, searched it, dumped my purse, and found nothing. So I go to the cashier, tell her as innocently as I can that I lost my ticket and have only been there for two hours. It doesn't matter. If you lose a ticket, you have to pay the full price. Damn the $9.00/day hospital parking. I don't know why I am complaining because I park in way more expensive garages, but it still sucks!

So what turns up the other day when I pull my prenatal vitamin sample box out of my purse so I can ask my OB-GYN to call in a prescription? The parking ticket. The stupid pink parking ticket that was in my purse tucked securely in the box the whole time.

Allergic

I have a mild case of sensitive skin. I definitely wouldn't say I have sensitive skin in a big way, just a little annoying way. Let's rewind to my first know skin reaction. I was probably at the young age of 12 and shaving my way into the future. At this young age I already hated shaving and was annoyed by having to do it all the time. So what's a girl to do? NAIR! Yes! But for me it was a big -- Oh, no! It hurt my legs to have it on and then I had a rash from it for a few days after.

Another instance is in high school when I was a wrestling cheerleader. It only happened twice and I never knew what it was, but I think I was allergic to the cleaner they were using on the mats. About halfway through the Saturday meet, I would get an itchy spot on my face and around my eyes. When I went to the bathroom to look, I had a welt looking thing that itched. Then it would be gone in a day or two. It was weird but no big deal.

Then there's yesterday. So we use this tube of Clean and Clear to prevent any little breakouts. It was running low and I had this one on hand. I used to use it in high school and college, so I didn't think anything of it. I rubbed it on yesterday morning after my shower and went about my day. At my job yesterday I noticed my ear lobes itching and my eyes, but nothing major.

When I got home, I washed my face and put more of the Persa-Gel one on and went about my evening. My face was itching more and more and my eyes and ear lobes. Now realizing what was happening, I washed it all off and hoped that it would GO AWAY! I woke up a few times throughout the night because I would roll over and my ear lobe would rub on my pillow case and actually hurt. Or I would wake up and be itching my face because I was dreaming of itching the itch. It was terrible!

So first thing this morning I checked my "safe" list from the doctor's office and hydrocortisone cream is one there. I put some of that on and went to the gym, trying hard not to look at anyone. The swelling did go down from the time I got up until the time I got back. I showered and put more hydrocortisone cream on. It feels so good to put it on because it takes the itch out. I have a job this afternoon and am worried about looking super gross, so I hope my makeup can cover most of this up without irritating it too bad!

I had to take the dogs to the groomer and she said I looked like I was "glowing." I corrected her and said that it was an allergic reaction, not a nice bit of sun that I wish I had got or some great pregnancy thing. From the bottom of my eyes (where I have some good bags) over to my ear lobes and then down to the top of my mouth is where it's the worse. It itches so bad and is pretty red.

I am chalking this up to being a weird pregnancy symptom. If I have used the stuff before with no other reaction and now use it and have one, it has to be; right? I just hope it's that stuff and not something else that I can't figure out! AND I hope it goes away fast!!

More Shopping

Since closing on our house, we have been focused on getting furniture for it. We want to get comfortable and settled long before the little one make his/her grand appearance. Another place I have been wanting to go look is the JC Penney Home Store. I am so glad we went there today! We found a table and chairs that we LOVE. The only question is: Do we want the regular height or do we want the bar height?

We are going to wait a little while and save up some more moola before taking the plunge, but I feel so much better knowing what we want. We have been looking everywhere for a dining set and haven't found anything we really like.

On the top of our list still to find? A king mattress set, a chair for the living room, and a crib.

Ikea

On Saturday we made the trek over to Cincinnati to go to Ikea. The plan was Ikea and Jungle Jim's, but Jungle Jim's didn't happen. We were at Ikea for over three hours and my left butt/hip was killing me and I didn't feel like walking anymore. We shopped 'til we dropped! T.J. is going to KILL me for putting this on here, but it shows his pure joy and excitement as we were pulling up to Ikea. I was doing the same thing with him until I snapped his photo:)
Here are our good buys! Our major purchase of the day is a red dresser for the baby's room. We were hoping to get a crib too, but the crib we like as been discontinued.

After we got back home we went to Pier 1 to order a couch for our living room and a king headboard!!! One step closer to having a king bed. Now we have the bedding and the headboard. Maybe should get to work on the mattress and box spring.

Nursery Ideas

I wanted to give you a little peak of what I have stored in my "baby room" folder on my computer. I didn't save the links or anything for where these pictures came from, but most of them came from the Ohdeedoh blog where they feature children's rooms. I just like to get ideas from all sorts of places. Once we get all moved in, we are going to really have to start planning this nursery.

Do these birds look familiar? Remember these and then this? Well, mine are still messed up. I need to buy a plastic mobile like this one that I can just hang mine up or call in the mobile experts. Either one would probably do.

Just Call Me Forgetful Franny

I totally forgot to blog yesterday -- oops! It's not like I had anything real important to say, but I completely spaced it. Here are a couple of fun facts about me lately...
  • I just finished listening to The Last Song and right before that Dear John. Now I want to see both movies. I must say, though, neither book was what I expected and a little disappointing. I am not sure if I am much of a Nicholas Sparks fan.
  • Next I am going to start The Host by Stephanie Meyer.
  • Tomorrow T.J. and I are heading over to Cincinnati to go to Ikea and Jungle Jim's. I think we maybe want to get our baby furniture at Ikea, so I am excited for that. Jungle Jim's is a gigantic grocery store that we have heard a lot about, so we want to go and check out.
  • I did really good working out the beginning of this week. T.J. did well ALL week. I kind of fell off the wagon when I had a couple of all-day jobs Thursday and Friday. Oh, well. I will start back up again on Monday:)
  • Speaking of my job...being a court reporter has really spoiled me. This morning my deposition started at 8:00 a.m. A depo starting before 9:00 a.m. should be banned. The traffic is horrible, half the people are late getting there, and everyone was hungry for lunch at 11:00 a.m. but we worked until noon anyways. I used to be a crazy morning person. 5:30 a.m. workouts all through college (what was I thinking?!) But now I am conditioned to sleeping later. That will all change soon enough; huh?
  • It has been hot here in Indiana with some days in the mid 80s, but this weekend we are supposed to have highs in the 60s. I am looking forward to some cooler days already! I have a feeling if anyone is going to hang out with me this summer, it will be wherever the air conditioning is!
  • Next weekend we will begin our move. T.J. and Keith are going to start Saturday with the big furniture that I can't handle now that I have a "bun in the oven." :) Hopefully on Sunday T.J. and I can get pretty much everything else over to our house. Mom and Scott are coming sometime that last week of April to help us get all organized and clean up at the old house.
  • The first major things to do at/for the new house, in no particular order: order couch from Pier 1, put up fence, get big tree trimmed that's touching roof, get a king bed. Oh, a king bed... Maybe that is first on my list! Since being pregnant and introducing the body pillow into my life, the queen bed just doesn't have enough room for T.J., me, and the body pillow. Something's gotta give!
  • I'm not feeling any baby movement yet. Every once in a while I wonder if what I am feeling is really the baby, but I just chalk it up to gas. Ha!
  • Who reading this blog watches Modern Family? If you do, it's soooo funny, isn't it? If you don't watch it, what are you thinking and why not? Our favorite characters are the gay couple. They make us laugh so hard we cry sometimes.
  • Do you feel like this is the blog post that doesn't end? I think I could go on like this forever. Do you get the sense that I have been in a room writing down what everyone else is saying for the last two days and finished listening to The Last Song in my free time? It's like I haven't talked to anyone in days even though I have. I am such a blabber mouth tonight. T.J. will love that when he gets home:)

Done and Done

We closed on the house today. As soon as that was over, we headed to our accountant's office to see about modifying our 2009 taxes to include the $8,000 credit. I am looking forward to getting that check in the mail! Otherwise, my day has been full of head and stomach aches. I think the stress was really getting to me. I am ready for this day to be over. We are going to bed tonight new home owners! Yippee!!

Closing Time

Tomorrow at 9:00 a.m. we have our closing. I am nervous and excited. I am ready for the closing and the move to be over so we can move onto other things, like decorating the nursery, enjoying our new house, etc. Hopefully everything goes smooth -- cross your fingers, say a prayer, kiss your family's photo, or rub your lucky rabbit's foot!

Seventeen Sweet Weeks

It's hard to believe it's been 17 weeks already! The time seems to be moving right along. I am a little Gothic in my picture with all the black:) T.J. said I should have worn another color besides black, but I think my belly shows up pretty well against the light walls.
This morning we started a new workout and eating routine. I rode the bike for 45 minutes and lifted some light weights. Oh, not to mention my sit ups and back exercises. Here's to a good week of working out!

Baxter's on the Mend

Good news on the Baxter front! He seems to be feeling better. This morning he seemed to be having a hard time swallowing, like he had a dry mouth and couldn't get saliva to do it. It has gotten better as the day has gone on. And tonight he even provoked a fight with Herky, so I think he is slowly getting back to his crazy Baxter self. What a relief!!!

In other news, I forgot to mention my appointment on Friday. It was a routine appointment. I was so relieved to hear that everything was good! My next appointment is the last Friday in April and T.J. gets to go with me in the morning for the ultrasound. I can't wait!

Now it's time to watch True Blood. I am sure I will have crazy dreams tonight!

Weekend Happenings

Last night T.J. and I ended up having a little date night. We went to the matinee of Date Night. It was really funny! I love both Steve Carell and Tina Faye. After that we stopped at DSW, where we bought no shoes. Then we went to Value City Furniture, where we bought no furniture. So we decided shopping wasn't working and went to eat. We ended up at MacNivens downtown. It has really good food and I always get a Scotch egg salad. If you haven't had a Scotch egg, you should! They are really good!

Once we got home, we let the dogs out and noticed that Baxter was acting funny. He had his tail and ears down and was kind of whimpering. The last few weeks the dogs have been sleeping in their bed on the floor in our bedroom, but he wanted to sleep with us. He was restless and kind of cried when he moved.

This morning he went to the bathroom and everything like normal. He wouldn't sit down right and kept going off to the side. Then he wouldn't eat or drink all day. I mean, nothing. The only thing we could get him to eat was some cheese, peanut butter, and a little bit of a soft doggy cookie. He was laying in weird places like under the kitchen table, which he never does. Oh, and he didn't touch a toy all day, so you know something was off!

I called the emergency vet to see about the not drinking and they said if it was between 24 and 48 hours since he had drank, which it was by this time of night, that it couldn't be good and he should probably be seen. So off to the emergency vet we went. He got the once over and appeared good from the outside. They did some blood work on him and all of that came back normal. The next thing we could have done was an x-ray, but that was another $110. The vet said that we could give him an appetite stimulant and see how he does tonight. If he still doesn't eat or drink, then we can go back tomorrow and have the x-ray.

So, one appetite stimulant, three anti-inflammatory pills, and $232 later, we are home. He ran inside and ate and drank a bunch as soon as we walked in the door. The vet thought maybe he had an upset stomach or something, so I hope he keeps all this food down! I want the old crazy Baxter back!

Bunnies

We have some bunnies that live under our shed in the back yard. The dogs have had a couple close calls when it comes to cornering a bunny and ganging up on it. I hate it! The bunnies freak out and make weird sounds. Hopefully we will be out of here before any baby bunnies make their appearances and I won't have to worry about the dogs going after any of them!

I took a video on my phone but it was too big to e-mail to myself, so I uploaded it to YouTube. They are doing away with the YouTube to Blogger business, so I have a link for you instead. Click HERE to check it out.

Belly Button

So I was going to post a picture of mine today. Luckily for you, I was too grossed out by it to post:) I just wanted to document how gigantic my belly button is. It looks like a huge hole in my stomach. I can now see inside and I have a cute little mole/freckle in there. I haven't ever thought much about my belly button. I always thought it was kind of small compared to T.J.'s cavernous one.

After seeing Courtney's and Kyli's belly buttons this last weekend, I realized this isn't the end of the belly button drama. Courtney's is about to become an outie. Kyli just looks like she doesn't have one. It's weird how your belly button will come back after the baby is born. It will come back; right?

One Week and Counting

In one week we close on our house!!! I can't wait! I am not ready at all. I guess we will be packing this weekend. Yikes!

My next doctor's appointment is Friday. Then I think the next one should be an ultrasound, which I am super excited for.

This weekend we are going to go and see Date Night. I love both Steve Carell and Tina Faye and think they are so funny.

Other than these little bits of news, I really don't have much new to write about. Maybe tomorrow will be more exciting.

Glasses

I got my glasses last week and forgot to show them off. I like them, but still just wear them around the house. TJ said they are "sturdy." I think he meant purdy!

I would show you what they look like on, but I took a second shower since it was so hot here today. Record breaking temps of 83 degrees today. So let's just say the pics would be scary if I took a pic of them on now!

Sixteen Sweet Weeks

Check out the bump! It is definitely getting bigger. I feel like the longer the day goes on, the tighter my stomach is feeling. Maybe it's a growth spurt?!? Any day now I should be feeling the baby move. I can't wait to feel it and I hope I can sooner rather than later!!

I know what some of you must be thinking...wow, what a sweet phone cover. I finally got my iPhone a new cover since the other one was falling apart:)

Weekend Recap

So I wasn't very good about blogging while back in Iowa...sorry! Here is a recap of all the fun stuff I did:

Thursday

I flew in Thursday around lunchtime. Keriann picked me up at the airport and then we headed over to C.J.'s Bagels to meet Courtney and Jessi for lunch. I was so happy that I was able to squeeze a little C.J.'s in while I was back! I had my regular turkey bagelwich, even though I probably shouldn't have. It was so good, though!

That afternoon we made a couple stops and then went to Courtney's to hang out. We rolled diapers for the diaper cake. I did feel a little bad that Courtney was helping to roll the diapers for her own diaper cake, but she didn't mind:)

We had dinner plans that night, so Keriann and I met Matt, Becky, Mom, Scott, Brandon and Amber at Chips for dinner. It was so good. Ever since I have been pregnant, I have been craving Chips. I wish I could have them again. They sound good right now!!

Friday

Friday Courtney, Keriann, Mom & I did some running around. First we went to Iowa Diamond to get my ring cleaned and Court's got the full polish treatment. Then we went to Suite Dreams to see the furniture that Brett & Courtney got for their nursery. It was fun to look around that store and get lots of cute ideas! Then we headed out to Jordan Creek to Gap Maternity.

I actually didn't get anything at Gap Maternity, but I cashed in at the regular Gap. So many of the shirts are extra stretchy and I can wear them with my ever-growing bump AND they were on sale! Wahoo. We got a little Cold Stone Creamery before heading back to Court's for a little down time. I get worn out so easy and it was nice to hang out for a couple hours and rest.

Then we had plans that night to meet up with some of my good friends I grew up with at Georgio's Pizza in Colfax. Angie wasn't able to make it because Payton had bronchitis(poor baby!) but we were able to see Sara & Kristy, which was sooo fun to catch up!!

I was going to take lots of pictures this weekend, but I really stunk at it. I have gotten out of the mode of taking pictures since my camera broke. I did take a few at dinner, though. Here is Bri, Kristy, Mike, Sara & Dane.

Dane, Me, Jill, Courtney & Keriann:

Saturday
The big day -- the baby shower! Today Courtney, Keriann & I went to Old Navy to check out the deals in the morning, then headed to Jason's Deli in West Des Moines. There we met Jessi & Jill. I was so excited to eat there and even more excited that they are bringing one to Indianapolis!! After lunch Court went home to get ready for her shower and Jessi, Jill, Keriann & I went to get some groceries for the shower. After that we went to Jill's and got to work on setting everything up.
We had a baseball theme for the shower. I am sure 'Lil Nugget will play baseball or softball with the parents it has:) We had a great turnout for the shower and had so much fun! I was a little better about taking pictures of the shower.
We made a calendar and had people put in a dollar and pick a date that they think Courtney will have the baby.
The hostesses with the mom-to-be! Jill, Courtney & Kaylan
Kylie gave Baby Fuller its own little onesie with a baseball on the front and Fuller on the back. Isn't it so cute?!?
All the pregnant girls at the shower. Kylie, Jessi, Kaylan & Courtney
Easter Sunday
Keriann came and got me and we had brunch with Dad, Carmen, Leeanna, Russell & Dakota at IHOP. After brunch, Keriann and I stopped over to say hi to Tom and then headed to the mall again. There was a shirt that we both wanted to get. Well, the mall isn't open on Easter Sunday, so Keriann took me to the airport instead. I got there extra early and was bored stiff!
Flying was so nice and I will definitely do it again, especially if I go home alone! It was so great to see everyone I was able to see when I was back!!! I wish I could have seen more people, but hopefully next time I will be able to.

Snow

I got to Iowa on Thursday around noon. Lunch was with Keriann, Courtney and Jessi at CJs. It was delicious! We went to Target and did a little shopping and then went to Court's and hung out.

While out shopping we saw this pile of snow in a parking lot. The high yesterday was in the 80s! It was crazy!!
