Happy Birthday, Harry Potter!!

I saw on Rae Gun Ramblings that July 31st is Harry Potter's birthday! We do love HP around our house! It's by far my favorite Sci-Fi/Mythical/Fantasy series. One year I even went as Harry Potter for Halloween:
Here you can see that I even have the fake scar tatoo:)

On the Rae Gun blog she had found a few cute Harry Potter things on etsy, so I decided to look around and look at what I found:
A freaking Harry Potter sock monkey!!!! Why have I not thought of this?!? He is too cute!
I found this monkey here on etsy.

And give me a break with this Gryffindor onesie! Too cute:) I found it here.

Craft Ideas and Tutorials

Today I got some work done, then did some organizing of crafty stuff. I starting making my little to-do list of things I want to get done before McBaby gets here. While on my hunt, I came across an awesome pillowcase tutorial that I can use for Craft Hope! I am so excited!

Hopefully now that I have a to-do list I can start getting a few things made and show them to you as I make them!

I finished the seventh book in the Sookie Stackhouse series today! Only three more books to go. My goal was to finish them before the baby comes. I don't know if I will make it or not. If not, maybe I will find some time during labor to get through a book or two:)

Mosquito Bites & Keeping Cool

I haven't had too many mosquito bites this summer because I am inside pretty much all the time. But I have had the occasional run-in with the pesky insect and they all look like this:

The whole area around the bite gets red, warm, and kind of hard. Even if I don't touch it, it looks bad. This was taken after I got up this morning, and I hadn't been itching at all! I put itch cream on my bites and that does seem to help. It must be a pregnancy thing because I don't normally have this strong of a reaction to a mosquito bite.
Now to the keeping cool part. When it comes to air conditioning, T.J. and I take this very seriously! Anyone who has come to stay with us for a visit knows to pack your sweatshirts and slippers because you will probably be cold:) Well, I hate to say it, but I think our house has gotten even colder with me being pregnant. I can't get it cold enough in here! Some of our windows even fog up when it's so humid outside and cool perfection inside:

Craft Hope Pillowcases

I follow a great blog called Craft Hope. This is actually the blog that first got me making sock monkeys. Anyway, they always have craft projects where regular people like you and me make things to help others. The next project is with ConKerr Cancer, making fun pillowcases for the kids. The neat thing about this project is that it's for kids in your local area. The ones I make will go to a children's hospital here in Indianapolis. All the information is on the Craft Hope page.

Even if you are just a beginner sewer, don't be scared away! It's a pretty simple project and how easy to whip out a bunch of these?!? There is a link to directions on how to make a pillowcase at Craft Hope. I am adding this to my to-do list as we speak:)

Baby Predictions

So I made up a predictions sheet where both T.J. and I made some predictions about baby. We both filled it out without looking at the other's answers. It's funny to see how much we guessed the same. Don't get me wrong with a predictions sheet -- we will be thrilled with a healthy baby, no matter what sex, no matter anything else. It was just a fun little activity that I thought would be fun to look back on once we know all the answers:)

I picked up this picture frame a while ago and have been needing to put the pictures in it. I put T.J.'s on top and mine on the bottom. Once we take our baby's picture at a similar age, we will put it on the left side for easy comparison. I can't wait to see who he/she looks more like!

Scatter Brain

Today I had a doctor's appointment. First I went to the chiropractor. I have always gone to the chiropractor -- at least in my adult life. The chiro told me that if you continue to go while pregnant, it can help make labor easier. I hope he's right!! Does anyone have any experience with this concept -- chiropractors, labor, easier?

Anyway, back to the doctor's appointment. Everything was normal. The baby's heart rate is slowing down. My weight is going up...ugh! My blood pressure was good. So it was a routine checkup!

After doing all that I came home and had big plans to get some work done. Then I decided today I was just going to take it easy and work hard tomorrow. Then I thought of all the other things I could do today to be productive at home. So far I have watched The Next Food Network Star and turned a job in, so not all that productive. Otherwise, I just feel like my brain is running in a thousand different directions.

I have heard of pregnancy brain before, but this is crazy. Here a few things on my mind:
  • freezer meals. I made a list this weekend of meals I want to make and freeze as the due date approaches so we have some easy meals. I feel like I should have more ideas. Anybody have any favorite dishes they like to make up and then freeze?
  • baby book. This weekend I worked some on getting what I can so far filled out. I have just a few pages left. Then I can wait for the baby's arrival to let this stress me out again.
  • craft roundup. I have a few projects that I have started and want to finish before McBaby's arrival. I need to organize myself and make a list and get busy!
  • Christmas presents. I am starting extra early this year since McBaby's arrival will be before Christmas and then I will be off work for a little while, so I am planning ahead.
  • to do list. I have just a few things on my ever growing to-do list that I really want to get done. Maybe this weekend we can finish them up.
  • appointments. I am making vet, groomer, oral surgeon, and doctor appointments like crazy today for everyone other than me! T.J. needs a couple wisdom teeth out and get a physical, the dogs' appointments are pretty self-explanatory:)
  • I need to fill out my patient registration for the hospital and send it in.
  • baby room. We haven't done much in there lately. I need to hang some pictures and finish decorating.

I feel like such a space cadet. Maybe it's my lack of caffeine. I gave up my pop-a-day habit after I was dehydrated last week. Tomorrow I might have to have a little just so I can get something done:)

32 Sweet Weeks (only 8 to go!)

Our doggies have been doing something we think is pretty cute these days. Every morning when T.J. and I get up and start getting ready, the dogs stay in bed. They are not exactly morning dogs:) Anyway, after a couple minutes, they both jump down off the bed and go into the baby's room. They just go in there and lay down.
Or sometimes when we just go upstairs to get something out of the closet or something, they will follow us up there, and they always go in there and sit and look at us like they're waiting for something...a baby!
We are all anxiously waiting McBaby's arrival around here!!

The Pregnancy Journal

I got this journal as a gift from my mom (I think) a couple years ago when T.J. and I were trying to get pregnant before. It is a fun way to read about what's going on in the pregnancy.
It is sectioned out by weeks and then days, so you can read one entry a day. I usually do it all in one day because it's not that much. And if I don't, then somehow I forget and get behind.
There is a quote at the bottom of every page. One of my favorites is:

"List of parental requirements: Affection without sentiment, authority without cruelty, discipline without aggression, humor without ridicule, sacrifice without obligation, companionship without possessiveness." William E. Blatz.

$1 Books at Target

Today at Target we found lots of good books in the dollar section. We got a few for the babe -- colors, numbers, and pets. Then we got some classics like Peter Pan, Huckleberry Finn, etc. to build a little library.

Is it just me or is this annoying?

I didn't get this posted yesterday, so I wanted to make sure and share today!

Yesterday at my job this is what I got to listen to the whole time I was there. I was able to block it out some of the time. But then the rest of the time it just drove me crazy!

Lots of H2O!

That's been my motto the past couple days. After waking up yesterday with some cramping, I was told to really push the fluids. Well, I am sure I drank more than enough! I was going to the bathroom every half hour:) The cramping would go away and come back, with more time in between yesterday. Today I haven't had any!! I must have just been dehydrated.

After having the little cramping scare, I decided to get my baby laundry done. I have been putting it off for no other reason than just waiting for the due date to get closer. So I reached for my Dreft and got busy!

On a side note, I finished Definitely Dead yesterday. It's the sixth book in the Sookie Stackhouse series. Only four more to go!

Seven Weeks of Childbirth Classes -- Day 1

Last night was our first night at our childbirth class. We used the timer on the camera to catch us going out the door. See the pillow? We had to take a pillow and blanket but didn't get to use them. Maybe next week.
It took us forever to get to the doctor's office yesterday. Traffic was a nightmare! I hope it's not like that when I am in labor and trying to get up there!!
Late last night I started having some menstrual cramping feelings. I called the doctor, and they said that it could be dehydration. I am drinking lots of fluids today and hoping that it will go away. I don't mind if the baby comes a little early, but not this early! So stay in there, McBaby, we're not quite ready yet!!

Belly Shots

While we were back in Iowa I wanted to have mom take some pictures for us. I was not wanting to do professional shots, but did want to have a few to document the pregnancy in a little better fashion than my weekly photos (which some are pretty scary!) I got some great ideas from Kyli, and this is what we came up with:

The last one was a joke. T.J. was getting tired of posing kissing my belly and he was doing some funny ones. This one cracked me up so much I was crying when I saw it:) But it actually is a pretty good one. Maybe he just needed to be a little corny to get some good shots!?!

Doggy Scrapbook

Another thing on my to-do list was to get caught up on my doggy scrapbook. I haven't added to it for a couple years, so I wanted to just put some of our highlights in there. I worked on it all afternoon and got it all done! Check!
Here are a few of my favorite pages I did:)

Pack 'n Play & a Giveaway

We got the Pack 'n Play all put together this afternoon. As you can see, it matches our living room perfectly!! All this new baby stuff makes me so anxious to meet McBaby! I hope these nine weeks go fast.
I have found quite a few new blogs to follow lately (thank goodness for Google Reader!!!) One of them is called Make it Perfect. There are some great tutorials on there, which I LOVE! Toni just came out with a new pattern and is having a giveaway. It is super cute and I hope I win it! You should try too, so go HERE and check it out!

Thank-You Cards are Done!

My big project for the weekend was to get the thank-you cards done. And I just did! Wahoo:)

We really appreciate everyone's generosity as we are getting ready for McBaby to get here! We are so honored and blessed to have such wonderful friends and family in our lives.

Baby Kicks

All week I have been trying to get some of the big kicks on video. Every time McBaby starts getting active and I grab my phone, he/she stops moving. Today I got a little movement, so I thought I would go ahead and post it. It just might be the best I can get!

The video is mostly looking at the right side of my belly. That's where I feel most of the kicks. If you watch the white stripes, you should be able to see where it goes a little crazy:)

Fire Breather

My heartburn has taken a turn for the worse. The last few nights have been terrible. Ever since we got back from Iowa, my heartburn as been ridiculous. It comes on strong in the evening, I take a couple Tums, and that helps. Then I go to bed, wake up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night with the worse heartburn. Last night I thought I was going to get sick it was so bad.
Today I woke up with a pretty bad headache, took some Tylenol and felt a lot better. Then this afternoon I had some lunch, which was followed by more awful heartburn, which was followed by more Tums consumption. I am worried about my new afternoon heartburn. At least before it always started after supper. I sure hope I am not going to have it all the time!!
Last night and today for lunch I had pizza. No more of that for me! Hopefully if I cut out the foods that are making me have heartburn, it will go away a little. And if not, it's going to be a long 9.5 weeks!

What's Happening at 30 Weeks

  • I have finally started feeling bigger and stronger movements from McBaby.

  • Sunday night McBaby put on a little kicking show, literally showing everyone those kicks in my tummy.

  • At the doctor's appointment today, McBaby's heartbeat was at 137 bpm. At my last appointment, it was in the 140s. Before that it's been in the 150s. What does it all mean? Boy? Girl?

  • Saturday night after getting up for my middle of the night bathroom break I felt McBaby having hiccups for the first time.

  • They're back...my cankles, that is. The long car ride really did a number on my feet and ankles. By the time we got home, my feet were numb/tingling, purple, and welted looking. I couldn't do much of any unpacking or anything because I had to put them up to hopefully relieve them. Today they are much better, but still a little swollen. My blood pressure is normal, so the doctor said it's probably just from the long car ride.

  • I really have been so overwhelmed by everyone's generosity at the baby showers. Thank you all so much!

  • We are accepting name ideas. If you've got 'em, we want to hear 'em!! The clock is ticking, and we are feeling the pressure to come up with some we really like.

  • My nesting instinct is going strong. The to-do list is growing, and I am hoping this weekend we can knock some things off the list.

  • I just finished the fifth book in the Sookie Stackhouse series, Dead as a Doornail. Only five books left to read/listen to in the series.

  • A week from today we go to our first childbirth class. It's a seven week class, and I am really looking forward to it!

  • I got some snuggle time in with Nolan Fuller.

So did T.J.

Family Get-together

Sunday was a little family get-together on my mom's side of the family. We usually have a summer picnic and Christmas get-together every year. Since moving to Indiana, we haven't been able to make it back. It was so nice to see all my family again!! I hope we are able to make it back for the summer gathering next year so it's not so long between visits!

It was so nice to chat with everyone and see all my cousins' little ones. They've grown up so much since last seeing them!

Besides the normal lunch we had, there was also a little shower for me and a few birthdays to celebrate. No pictures again (I think it's safe to say I suck!) I will check with my mom to see if she took any that I can post on here.

10 Year High School Reunion

Saturday night was my 10 year class reunion. I was so exhausted from the shower earlier in the day that we didn't stay too long at the reunion. It was fun to see old classmates and catch up. I think about half of our class of 26 showed. I forgot to take any pictures (shocker, huh?!) So I will just show some old pictures instead.
Here is our senior class picture.

Headshots that were in the newspaper.
Here is a picture from our 5 year reunion.

Baby Shower

Our baby shower was Saturday. It was awesome! I was so overwhelmed, it's hard for me to say how I feel. I was surrounded by so many close friends and family, some of whom I haven't seen in a really long time. The shower was full of laughter, stories, and catching up. Of course I wish I had more time to sit and talk to everyone, but I am so thankful for the time that I did have! Our little McBaby is so loved already, and I can't wait to bring him/her back to meet everyone after he/she is born. Thanks everyone for making the day so special!
Now for some pictures! My mom snapped a few (thank goodness!), but I wish I would have gotten a few more with everyone that was there. I really need to get on top of my photography game!
My good friends, Courtney and Kristy, recently had babies themselves. I have been patiently waiting to meet them, and I finally got the chance! Here are Nolan and Emily:

Here are some shots of the shower.
I think Keriann is announcing the first game -- Pin the Sperm on the Egg:)

Me, Jessica, Kristy, Renae, Malena, Sara & Angie
My beautiful sister, Keriann. I really have to thank her for all her hard work putting the shower together. She did a lot of prepping, planning, etc. to make this such a wonderful shower for me. Thanks, Keriann!! Love you!

Whirlwind Weekend

Tonight we leave for Iowa for our whirlwind weekend. We will get back around 2:00 a.m. I have a baby shower tomorrow early afternoon, and then my 10 year high school reunion tomorrow evening. Sunday my extended family on my mom's side is coming over for a get-together. Then on Monday we make the trek back. It will be busy, but oh, so fun. I won't be blogging. I don't think I have time to. But I will have a lot to catch up on early next week!
