2010 Quick Review

Here are some highlights (or lowlights) from 2010

January:  Trip to Florida.  We're PREGNANT!  We had our first ultrasound.
February:  I had an ER visit -- yucky!
March:  T.J.'s Uncle Gordy passed away.  T.J. took his first flight to Iowa alone.  We made offer on house.
April:  Baxter choked on bone and had to go to doggy ER -- scary!  We moved into our new home!  I flew to Iowa alone.
May:  Gave the shed and nursery a makeover.  Got our big tree trimmed.
June:  Went to KC for a weekend with T.J., got cankles, had the glucose test, had garage sale.
July:  Took childbirth classes, my 10 year high school reunion, Iowa baby shower.
August:  Work baby shower.
September:  MILES arrives!  Goodbye sleeping.
October:  T.J. became a stay-at-home dad.  Celebrate Halloween with Mr. Miles for the first time.
November:  Miles makes his first road trip to Iowa over Thanksgiving.
December:  Welcomed our first niece, Quinn!  Enjoy Christmas at home with Miles.

Other various highlights:
  • Many, many trips to Cincinnati to IKEA.
  • Lots of visitors.  We can't tell you how much it means to us that you make the trek to Indiana to see us!!
  • Miles became the center of our universe!
You can see my goals for 2010 HERE.  I think I have been good about not procrastinating and I also read 27 books, so I reached that goal.  Otherwise, I think it's safe to say I will carry the rest over and try to work on them in 2011:)  I think for 2011 I am going to try to listen to 35 books.

This has been the best year ever!  I am excited to see what 2011 brings!

Miles' First Christmas!

On Christmas morning T.J. and I were up and out of bed at 5:20 a.m.  It was ridiculous.  I just couldn't sleep and neither could T.J.  I guess we were just too excited!  We got up and had a good breakfast.  Then we got Miles up and fed.  After that we started opening presents!  Yahoo!

Here is our tree with all the presents under.

Here is Miles' First Christmas outfit!

Our Family!

Miles with his Grandpa & Grandma McCord

T.J. with one of his stocking stuffers.  He's quite the runner nowadays, ya know?

Miles and all his presents.  The little guy really cashed in!

Miles kicking back in his new chair.

And then he crashed.  Lots of playing with new toys and presents opening makes for a sleepy baby!

Grandpa with Miles and the doggies!

We had such a great Christmas!  It was so much fun this year with Miles, and we can't wait for the years to come as he gets older and more excited around the holidays.  It snowed Christmas Eve, which was just beautiful!  We loved having Mike & Julie here for Christmas too.  It is so nice to spend the holidays with our family!

We are trying to have some Christmas traditions that we can start now and always do.  So the ice skating on Christmas Eve and going to see a movie on Christmas day are a couple things we have done the last two years and really enjoyed.  What are some of your traditions around the holidays?

Hitting the Ice

On Christmas Eve we went to our second annual ice skating extravaganza. We can't wait for Miles to get out there and try. For now, though, he enjoyed hanging with Grandma and Grandpa while Mom and Dad did a few laps.

Keith, Natasha, me, TJ, Brett:)

Now with Regina too

At our favorite hangout...the wall. We didn't do too bad. I have only been a few times and it wad TJ's second time. I did get some good laughs from TJ, but we did have a good time!

Merry Christmas!

This is the prop I mentioned last Sunday that I made.  It is fleece and was super easy to make.  But now what do I do with a 4 foot stocking?  Fill it, of course:)

We are so happy and truly blessed this holiday season.  We have so much to be thankful for...Miles sits atop that long list!  We hope you all have a great Christmas!

THE END (of the Iowa trip pictures)

Our last night in Iowa we had our Christmas with mom.  She got Miles Colt to ride.  He is so cute!  Miles isn't quite big enough yet, but we had to try it out anyway:)

Keriann made Miles a colors book.  He loves looking at all the bright colors in it!

Singing/Beatboxing with Dad

T.J. loves to beatbox.  He usually only does it around me, but a few others have heard him bust out some beats.  Anyway, he was doing this with Miles and he was loving it.  T.J. had to let me tape him!

I taped this on my iphone and it would only let me e-mail so much of the video at a time, so it's broken into two parts.  Enjoy:)

Finding his Voice

Most of the time Miles is pretty quiet.  But every once in a while he gets going.  We got him talking a bunch to me today.

Three posts in one day? Yep, it's a Christmas miracle!

I just wanted to update you on what's been going on here.  We finally got our Christmas cards mailed out!  We took some pictures last weekend but weren't completely happy with them.  Then I got another idea and we went for it.  I sewed up a little prop this morning, designed the card this afternoon, then printed them at the one hour thing at Wal-Mart.  How nice is that?  Then I printed labels and T.J. has been working on getting them all put together.  It was definitely a team effort, and they are going out just in the nick of time!  I will post the pics on Christmas.  I don't want to ruin the card:)

Also, some of us have been bitten by the jolly bug.  It's been known in the past that we are a couple of Scrooges...BUT this year we are turning over a new leaf.  For example, every time T.J. walks by the tree, he mentions how much he loves it.  I don't think he has ever said anything about our tree before.  Another example?  T.J. and I bought gifts for each other this year.  We used to go crazy on each other at Christmas, but then stopped.  We have bought gifts in recent years, but it's just one or two, nothing too crazy.  It's fun to get in the spirit again!

Next I wanted to give a shout out to my hubs, T.J.!  He is taking this stay-at-home dad thing very seriously, and I can't tell you how much I appreciate all he does.  I have been trying to stay on top of work so I don't have much out for the holidays, and he has been taking care of all the household chores so I can focus on that.  Ever since he started staying home he feeds Miles most of the time, he gets up with him in the night (*see below), does the laundry, and has started doing most the grocery shopping on his own.  But then this week he started making dinner!!  He made us breakfast for supper, a frozen casserole(just had to heat it), sloppy Joe DiMaggios (made from a recipe!), and homemade pizza tonight.  It's AWESOME!

*I forgot to mention when this first happened.  But when it did, it was heaven on earth.  "What is it?" you must be wondering...well, Miles now sleeps through the night!  We put him down around 8 on his side.  We put him on his tummy when we go to sleep.  Then he sometimes wakes up once and just needs his pacifier.  But sometimes he sleeps until 7 or 8.  Ahhhmazing!

Also, I wanted to pass on the word that our friends Robert and Angel had their baby girl, Lexi Ann, 14 weeks early.  They started a blog so you could follow along with everything and keep little Lexi in your thoughts and prayers.  Hopefully she will just get stronger and stronger every day and be home with her family soon.

Meeting my buddy, Nolan

Back to the trip to Iowa.  Miles got to meet his buddy, Nolan.  Miles and Nolan were buddies before they were born, hanging out in their tummies while their mommies hung out:)

Later that night we went to Jill's for a little get together. It was so fun to see everyone and catch up. There we got to meeet little Mya too.

Courtney got Miles a matching hat like Nolan's...see?
