I finished the first book of the trilogy. It was so good! I have already got a good start on the second book. I don't want to give anything away (writing book reviews really isn't my forte), but you should definitely read this book! Who doesn't love a good series anyway? (Harry Potter, Twilight, Sookie Stackhouse) And they're being made into movies, which always makes me happy! Let me know if you've read them or are going to. I would love to hear what you think!
When Miles is sad or upset, he makes this oh face. It really is hilarious and hard to keep a straight face when he does it. Sometimes he's sad or hurt, sometimes it's if he hears another child cry. It's pretty funny, though.
Last Saturday Miles put on his Hawk gear and cheered on the Hawkeyes. His Grammy B got him these overalls before we knew if he was a he or a she:) They fit him perfect now, and he will be wearing them the rest of this season for good luck!
We interrupt our regularly scheduled forecast with a very important update.
The baby is walking! Miles took his first steps today, and I am so glad we both were here to experience it. I even got teary watching him! It's so hard to believe how big he is getting! Now with him walking, it only means even more independence. Sigh!
It's hard to tape with just the two of us, so please excuse the poor quality. We just had to get it on video, though!
And because a day with one first isn't enough, today is the day he started feeding himself with a fork!
Sorry for my blogging absence! We have been getting adjusted to T.J. working again. He got a part-time job at Target. He gets up really early and gets home at a good time. So far it's working out that I can still take jobs, and Miles stays home with one of us. It's awesome that we can do it without having Miles go to daycare!
I will do some posting this week to bring the blog up to speed. For now, though, check out our little pumpkin!
Last week I did some major organizing of Miles' baby room and all the baby stuff. I broke down some of the big things like the swing and jumper and got them all stored away in his closet. I also took some of his bigger boy toys and clothes and got them into his future big boy room. It's so nice to have done, and makes things not so cluttered. I just hope I can keep up on it!
I bought this walker at the beginning of the summer at a garage sale. I totally forgot about it, and it was in the back of Miles' closet. Oopsies! Well, in the meantime, we bought Miles a different new walker. It was too fast and would roll away from him, so he didn't want much to do with it. I brought this one down, and he grabbed it and started walking with it like he's been doing it all along.
So here's a big milestone for Mr. Miles, his first time walking with his walker!
Miles' molars are poking through. We noticed last Thursday that Miles was really chewing on his fingers in the back of his mouth. He had a fussy night with some crazy diapers, so before bed we gave him some Tylenol and Orajel. While I was putting on the Orajel, I felt the top ones poking through. Then on tonight I noticed that his bottom gums in the back are really red and swollen looking. So we've got some serious teething going on at our house!
Mom, Scott, Brandon, and Amber came out for a weekend visit. We hung out at home on Saturday and ended up hanging Christmas lights (thanks, Scott!) and chopping down an out-of-control lilac bush. That night we went down to Lucas Oil to watch the Quakers play.
On Sunday we headed down to Brown County, and it was gorgeous! The leaves are amazing right now. It's been so nice, so the trees are holding them long and the colors are so bright. We did a little shopping in Nashville and had some lunch. Then we took some engagement photos for Keriann and Derrick.
Hopefully Keriann won't mind me sharing this one with you!
Here is one of the outtakes.
Then we took some pictures at a park in Plainfield. Mom wanted to get some of her family, so here is one of my favorites of them.
Hopefully soon we can get one of our little family with the doggies.
This morning we ran up to the Container Store, and we bought some plastic containers for our pantry. Hopefully it helps keep that organized! Then we went to David's Bridal where mom bought her mother-of-the-bride dress for Keriann's wedding. We all had Jason's Deli, then the Smiths hit the road. We ran a few other errands before coming home. I didn't feel so well, so I've been lounging around this afternoon, which was awesomely relaxing. It feels a little like a Sunday instead of a Monday!
Hi, I'm Kaylan, a mom, freelance court reporter, and avid crafter. I'm married to my best friend and the best stay-at-home dad ever. We live in the suburbs outside of Indianapolis. Almost all of our family is back in Iowa except for my sister Keriann and her fiance Derrick. I talk about them a lot on here too; so if you see their names, you will know who they are.
I dabble a little in just about everything and love to blog about all of it. So grab your coffee and your laptop, kick back, and stay a while. Enjoy the show!
