Sorry this blog has been a bit silent lately.  I have so much I want to blog about, but it's just that I'm a little busy at the moment.  Hopefully I can get my ducks in a row this weekend and have some things to share.

In the meantime, is there anything cuter than a baby sleeping with his hands up over his head?
I can't think of anything!

Painting with Water

When we were in Iowa, my friend Courtney told me about how she and her son played outside painting the sidewalk with water. So on this HOT March day, we decided to give it a whirl. It started like this.

Took a break to chase some bubbles.

Saw his auntie filling up the bucket and wanted in on some of that action.

This water was ice cold!! He didn't mind one bit!

So he did it again...

...and again...

...and again.

Then we had to let him air dry!

New Giggles

Miles is sooooo ticklish!  The other night I was putting my hand under his chin and going up and down to chatter your teeth.  My mom used to do it to us all the time.  Anyways, I was doing that when he started going nuts giggling and laughing.  His neck is the most ticklish.  See?
PS -- I really will post about our quick Iowa trip soon.  I need to upload my pics from my camera and haven't gotten around to it yet.

Whenever we ask Miles to go on a walk, he associates it with going outside, which means he grabs a couple of balls that are in close proximity to him to take outside. So this is what our walk looked like today. Two footballs. He held them the whole time, only throwing them when he realized we were going home.

Mower Man

It's hard to believe the yard needed mowed already! I think we put it off long enough. What do you think?

T.J. has to keep running the mower over the extra thick, long spots. All our neighbors have already cut their grass, so we were a little embarrassed by our overgrown, lush yard. I don't think we've ever had to mow in March before!

18 Months

Miles had his 18 month appointment on Wednesday.  He is right on track developmentally.  He is big for his age, but he doctor said that it's good that he's all proportionate.  So all is good with Mr. Miles!

He weighed 29 pounds (85%)
35 inches tall (98%)
head 19.5 inches (90%)

Miles right now is:
-transitioning into some 3T clothes, depending on brands.
-babbling non-stop.  We love just listening to him ramble on and on and on.
-in love with watching the school buses go by.  We live by a couple schools and in the morning and afternoons we count them as they go by.
-an avid bird and airplane watcher.
-likes to check himself out in the mirror after a bath.  He plays peek-a-boo and cracks up at himself.
-getting his incisors.  They've been coming in for a while, but they are all poking through now.
-getting used to sitting on the big-boy potty.  He didn't like it at first, but is starting to not mind it too much.
-feeding himself with silverware at meals.
-using lots of words -- mama, dada, done, all done, airplane (aw-pah), ball, basketball, football, sorry, please (peese), thank you, hot, num, cheeseball (ball-ball), Auntie Keriann (tee-tee), Derrick (dah), yeah, hi (hiya), bye-bye, Baxter & Herky (not sure how to type what he says:).
-sometimes move your mouth like you're talking but no sound comes out.
-blowing kisses.
-when asked how he is, he holds up the number 1 finger.
-loving brushing his teeth, especially his tongue.
-pointing out his body parts.
-a mulch-digging-playing fool!  He loves to throw it around.
-hates getting hands dirty when he eats, though.  I know it contradicts the previous thing, but it's true.  I have to really work at getting him to pick up pieces of his sandwich or toast with his hands.
-gets scared at loud noises, like the blender.  But doesn't mind the vacuum.
-good at going to the nursery during church and the play world at the gym.
-running, and he's pretty darn fast!  I'm already worried about having to keep up with him!
-good at throwing balls -- two different people last week said he was going to play baseball after they watched him and he threw balls at them:).
-so fun!  He's the apple of our eyes!  We thank God every day that we have been given the honor to raise him!

I snapped these pictures yesterday, and Miles was totally photo-bombing.  I did the camera flip on the iPhone so he could see himself.
The tongue.
 Cheese!  I got him:)
He is such a stinker already with the camera!  Thank goodness for digital and the ability to delete photos!

PS -- did you notice his shirt?  I made it.  I will post how soon.
PSS -- I am leaving for Iowa this morning with Keriann & Derrick for a super quick weekend.  Lots of showers, driving, and visiting.  I am so looking forward to seeing some of my peeps while there!  I'll try to do some updates, but I may get behind.  I'm on a tight schedule while there.  So if I do, I will do some updating the first of next week.

He's nuts about airplanes!  It helps that we live close to the airport and see them all the time.  He LOVES looking for them and pointing.  He ooohs and aaaahhhs at them when they fly over.  And he says airplane, which really sounds more like aw-wah or aw-pah.

Golf Game

Last night Miles was working on his golf game.
He's got a mean swing.  Now if we can only get him to use two hands:)

Knuckles and Practicing Manners

T.J. was working on doing knuckles with Miles.  He likes the sound effects, but not the fist part.  Oh, and we are always working on manners, so that got in a little at the end too.

Chit Chatting

Last week Miles was sick with a runny nose and cough.  He was still playing and everything, but just not himself.  He is feeling much better now.  And since getting over being sick, he has become quite the chatterbox.  He will just jibber jabber and talk your ear off.  It is seriously like a switch went off, and he is now talking constantly.  Now if we could only understand what he's saying!

Steak 'n Shake

We went there for lunch recently, and the place is great for kids.  They gave Miles this cute hat, a little car to fold together, and a coloring paper with colors.
Doesn't he look like his Great Uncle Tom and Grandpa Mike used to when they were working at Logsdon's back in the day?  I wish I had the picture of them to share with you to compare.

Playing Catch

T.J. plays catch like this all the time.  Now Miles wants to do it to.  When I have to lay by him and do it, I end up chasing balls all over the place.  Luckily, T.J. is better than me and can catch his wild throws.

What Happens When You Take Your Husband and Baby to the Party Store

While I was shopping, T.J. and Miles were getting crazy with the sunglasses section.
Happy Half Birthday today, Miles!!

I'll end the glasses photos of a classy one -- beer goggles:)

Slow Cooker Zesty BBQ Chicken

Guess what we had for dinner tonight?
And it was delicious!!  Keriann tried it earlier this week and was raving about it.  Soooo I decided to give it a whirl today.  It was so easy and delicious!  For some reason we had three opened bottles of half used BBQ sauce in the fridge, so this was a great way to get rid of them.  I now have it down to just one bottle and hope to keep it that way.

I cut the recipe in half.  I had a sandwich, T.J. had two, and we still have some leftover.  Let me know if you try it and what you think.  I bet you'll love it!

I pinned it here.

Hail Storm

A few days ago we had some bad storms blow through Indiana.  Lucky for us, we didn't get any worse than this hail storm.  The news of complete small towns being wiped off the map is so heartbreaking!  I was at the gym and had to drive in some hail on the way home, which was scary!  I was going so slow because if I sped up at all, I thought the windshield would break.

After I got home, T.J. wanted to pull the van into our garage.  It was a very, very, veeery tight squeeze, but we got it in and T.J. was able to get out too:)

I pulled the Saturn up as far as I could just in case.  I got some video to share too.
The news about the tornadoes tearing through southern Indiana is just a reminder to me that we NEED a basement!  Our next home will have one.  I am always a little panicky when I hear tornado because we don't have an underground place to go.

Big Boy Hoops

I know I've mentioned it before, but getting around the block with Miles is at least a 45 minute time commitment.  He is obsessed with all the hoops that are on our block, stopping at each one to throw something he found on the ground at it.  I guess we better start looking at getting one for our house.  I think it would provide endless hours of entertainment this summer!

Giggles with Daddy

I have been a bad blogger lately.  So sorry!  I plan to get some posts up this week!  Tonight at dinner T.J. started doing this look thing, which cracked Miles up.  There's never enough gut-laughing videos, in my opinion.  It promises to make you smile:)
