Two New Toofs!

See those two giant new teeth in the back?  They've been keeping this poor guy from sleeping at night and during nap time.  He's gnawing on his fingers all the time.  I just wish they would finish coming out already so he can have a little relief.  PS - Can someone get this kid a haircut? :)

Trampoline!

Miles got a trampoline for his birthday from Keriann & Derrick; Matt, Becky & Quinn; and Mom, Scott, Brandon & Amber.  At first, you had to hold his hands, and he wasn't too steady.  But it hasn't taken too long, and he's getting pretty brave on it!

What's that?!!

Miles favorite thing to say right now is "What's that?"  The way he says it cracks us up.  Every time!  We were finally able to get a little video of him in action.

Other favorite lines of his right now are "That's better."  With a strong and very high note on "that's."  And then his "I did it."  With a strong staccato on each word and a very high pitched "I."  We will have to work on getting those on video.  Too stinking cute!!

He's asking about fish and says how they are flying in the water.  Then I lose it at the end.  Funny stuff!
On a side note, notice the Yankees jersey?  It's the one from Miles' Great Uncle Tom.  I blogged about when he first got it here.  He was only five months old in that picture.  The jersey is a size 18 months.  And it still fits him today.  How is that for getting your money's worth?!?!

Still Here

I've been struggling to find a balance between family, church, busier work schedule, working out, and craft show preparation. I'm so sorry to be gone for so long from this blog. I will hopefully get back on track soon! For now I will leave you with some pics of our recent happenings.

Cozy, early morning snuggles.

Playing with mommy's shades.

He wasn't scared of this tiger that was staring at him, licking his lips. Eek!

Puzzles!!

First craft show -- it was a doozie. We had bad weather and weren't in a great location. Lets hope that Ankeny is better!!

We got Miles a swing set. We bought it from our neighbors who are moving for a whopping $30. And we just lifted it over the fence. Huge score!!

Goodnight!

Miles is always sleeping on, curled up with, or at the very least touching one of three things in his bed. Usually it's Yankee bear, then maybe it's his head on big bear, or maybe snuggling up to his glow worm. Big bear was getting full snuggles the other night!

This makes my back hurt just looking at it!

Happy birthday, Miles!

Your daddy and I are just as crazy about you now as we were two years ago! You bring such joy and happiness to our world. Happy birthday, big guy!!

Birthday Blast Off

We started Miles' birthday celebration a day early. Carmen is in town for work, so she came over along with Derrick and Keriann too. We grilled steaks and had a yummy cake T.J. baked.

After Miles opened a couple presents, he was really on a roll and kept asking for more presents. Lucky for him, we have a few for tomorrow too. I have a feeling we won't have too many presents under the tree this year until Christmas day! Some little booger will be wanting to get into them early.

T.J. with his checkerboard cake he baked today! It was delicious!!

Stay tuned for more pics from my real camera and a few videos coming soon!

Arts and Crafts

We picked up some watercolor paints the other day and decided to give 'em a whirl tonight. Miles liked dipping the brush in water, paper, paint, water. So the concept wasn't quite there. I'm thinking we need some of those books where we just add water and the paint appears:)

Today

Today Miles woke up extra happy and giggly.

Today Miles climbed into the car and his car seat all by himself.

Today Miles walked right into the nursery at church without any fuss.

Today I prayed before lunch with Miles and T.J. Seeing our little boy bow his head and hearing him say "Amen" never gets old!

Today I took a 2.5 hour nap. (never happens!)

Today we went on a bike ride and played at the park.

Today I can see two of Miles' two-year molars on the bottom almost halfway out.

Today I am extra thankful for all the blessings and answered prayers in my life!

Today I played too many games of SongPop.

Howler Monkeys

This was the first time Miles laughed at the TV.  He is watching the Cat in the Hat, and they are singing about howler monkeys.  He cracked up, which then makes us giggle:)  We love seeing his personality coming out more and more each day.  He's been laughing at random stuff lately, and we can't get enough of it.

Super Why on the Alpha-Bits Box

T.J. said this box made for the best Target trip ever!  Miles loves Super Why and the alphabet, so he was a busy boy checking it out the whole time shopping:)

Rhythm Discovery

T.J. got a Groupon to the Rhythm Discovery exhibit thing that is going on downtown right now.  Miles loved it so much we just might have to go back.  Not to mention T.J. had one of the best days ever playing all the drums he could dream of:)

T.J. was like a kid in a candy store!

They had a couple soundproof rooms so you could go in and let it out on the drums.  I didn't last long.  It hurt my ears!  So Miles and T.J. played around for a while.
We were the only ones in there, which was awesome.  We weren't rushed to get out of the way and could take our time.  If you're in the Indy area, I would definitely recommend checking it out.  It was a fun little outing.

Day 2 Afternoon in Chicago -- Willis Tower (Sears Tower)

After Miles fell asleep again on Sunday right as we were leaving the zoo.  We trekked back to the hotel.  I was switching on and off with T.J. for carrying responsibilities.  His back was bothering him, though, so I lugged my 30 pound boy and my 30 pound purse/diaper bag a mile back to the train station.  That was fun.

As soon as we got back to the hotel, Miles woke up.  So we got cleaned up and headed to Willis Tower.  We had bought our go ticket things before going, so we already had our tickets.  When we got in the line, they told us it would be a 2 hour wait, but only 1 hour if you already had tickets.  I knew this was going to be rough with Miles.  Asking a 2 year old to hang out for an hour while waiting in line surrounded by strangers wasn't going to end pretty.  And it didn't.  I was ready to leave about 15 minutes into our wait.  If I could go back, I would have just taken Miles and gone shopping or something else.  That wait was brutal!

Derrick and T.J. hadn't been in the tower before.  I took Miles and wandered around while T.J. took it in.

See how shiny I am?  It's because I'm hot and annoyed and want to leave:)  It wasn't that bad.  But it was bad.

T.J., Derrick & Keriann wanted to check out the sky deck thing.  It's glass on all sides, so you can look straight down.  There were a bazillion people waiting, so I took Miles and wandered around while they did it.  Seeing a pattern here?  Totally should have taken him and gone shopping!

After Willis Tower we made our way back to the hotel, grabbing dinner to go, eating at the hotel.  Then we took Miles swimming before hitting the sack.

We had so much fun in Chicago, but it was exhausting!  We are so glad Keriann and Derrick were able to jump in and go with us.  Mike and Julie were going to go but something came up with Mike's work so they couldn't make it.  We were all bummed about it, but what can you do?  I think we may be making a few day trips up to Chicago soon.  I have a few more places I want to go:)

Day 2 Morning in Chicago -- Lincoln Park Zoo

I had heard from an attorney that I worked with about a few things to do while in Chicago.  One thing he suggested was the Lincoln Park Zoo.  Knowing how much Miles LOVES animals, I knew this would be a big hit for him.  And it's free, so it was a big hit for all of us!

We rode the subway as close as we could get, then walked about a mile to the park.  The first thing we saw was a farm animal section.  Miles (really, I) got to feed a cow, which was gross because their tongues are loooooong!

We saw some baby chicks hatching.
Derrick and Miles got to check out the tractor.
Checking in on more cows and goats.
Looking back at the city from the park.
A zebra and her baby.
There were a couple gorillas there.  They kept banging on the door, and looked pretty ticked about something.  They are some mean looking monkeys!

We did a go pass thing and bought something for the zoo even though it was free.  Well, we each bought a carousel ride and a train ride.  It worked out that Miles got to ride the carousel three times and ride the train two times with all our tickets.  Lucky little guy!

If you are visiting Chicago, I would definitely recommend this zoo.  It was so big and nice, so it never felt crowded.  There was a huge variety of animals, and we definitely could have spent more time here if we had more time to spend.
