A few snapshots from playing at home the other night. Miles was on a roll!
He did this on his own, but it was kind of scary because sometimes he wouldn't get his knees in there far enough, and the truck would flip. Keriann would then push him around in it, so, of course, he loved that!
Miles is getting more and more into cars these days. He loves driving them all over.
The poor little guy has still got a cold. He had it, was almost over it, now it's back worse than before. I feel so bad that he doesn't know how to blow his nose and get everything out. He is coughing and breathing really heavy. Poor baby! T.J. had a call into the doctor's office about medicine. When they called him back, it was the end of the day and he missed the call. They're calling in a prescription in the morning, so hopefully that will help clear this up!
God has been at work in our lives, and I've not really written about it on my blog. I feel like most of the time I don't have the right words to express what I mean or am feeling. He is such a big part of our lives now, and for that I am forever grateful. We attend Harvest Indy West in Avon, Indiana, and have grown so much since going there. We are in a small group on Sunday nights. We are challenged weekly by each other in going through our studies and God's Word. I really love them all dearly and am so thankful for their friendships! I also joined the choir this fall. I'm not a great singer, but I do love to sing worship songs to our Lord and Savior! I am so lucky to be blessed each Saturday when we practice. I truly love that time worshiping, even if it is practicing. We also teach Sunday school a couple weeks every once in a while (we are on a rotation). This has by far been the biggest challenge for us. We are not natural "teachers." We are better suited for playing games/having fun/singing/goofing off. So when it's time to be serious and we need to be strict, we sound ridiculous. We love how God has stretched us to do this, even though it's not something we are naturally good at. And we definitely grow each time we do it. T.J. is also on a rotation doing set up before church. We go to church in a movie theater because there is not yet a building (but, Lord willing, there will be one next fall!) So each Sunday they have to set up a stage/sound equipment/classrooms before church.
T.J. and I are reading through Luke right now at home. We are going to be going through it soon at church, so we are reading through it before that.
We just finished reading this book for our small group. It was so enlightening and just awakening. I got so much out of reading it and would definitely recommend it!! The last chapter on prayer was a game-changer for me! So good!!
So that's just a glimpse of where we're at. For those who have known us for a long time and are seeing a change, you're right. It is a BIG change! And we thank God for that! It's by his grace and mercy that we've come to know him. On that note, I will end this with 2 Corinthians 5:17 "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come."
Last weekend Miles and I had a date night, just me and him. He took me out to dinner and shopping. And he was on his best behavior! We had so much fun! Then we came home, played with a new toy he got, read lots of stories, and he was in bed before Daddy got back from his movie he went to see.
Everything about Halloween was a struggle for us this year. We barely made it to the trick-or-treat thing at the library. I had to work late. Then we missed the night in Plainfield because we were in Iowa. We missed it in Iowa because we were in Plainfield. So Miles didn't get to actually trick-or-treat this year. Oh, well!
Along with our Halloween fail, we didn't carve pumpkins. I decided about a week late that we should paint them at least. So here they are all taped off.
Miles and Nolan had to get their boy time in while we were back in Iowa too. These two played so great together!! Even though some of these pictures are blurry, I had to post them. They loved these horses, and I couldn't get enough of seeing them on them!!
A couple weekends ago Keriann and I did our first real craft show. Here is our little booth. Everything went smoothly. We sold about half of our stuff, and hope to sell more the end of November at a craft show in Indy. It was stressful preparing for it, especially since we started only about two months before the show. I'm glad it's over but did have fun doing it. I wouldn't mind doing another one, maybe just having a little more prep time!
I didn't take pictures of all the stuff we sold. But I did snap these two boards that we were finishing painting on the eve of the craft show. They were our top sellers and sold out in an hour and a half!
T.J. turned 33 last month. We had lots to celebrate since he is such an awesome husband and daddy! I made him a good breakfast, then we headed to Broad Ripple for his first surprise of the day. He got a massage! After he was all relaxed from that it was time for the second surprise -- lunch at Fogo de Chao! Then the third surprise -- is that Keriann and Derrick? Fourth surprise -- is that Nate and Amy?
We had a great time eating a delicious lunch! T.J. tried objecting to every single thing, like I knew he would. But I think he enjoyed it! After Miles napped, we opened gifts and had (last surprise) ice cream cake from Cold Stone! YUM!!
Miles trying to blow out the candle that wasn't there -- the one thing I forgot!
This is the card Miles picked out for T.J. I'm not even kidding. I had a cute sock monkey one picked out, and he wanted this monkey:)
We don't do much present opening around here. Miles LOVES it!!
I'm not sure why Miles says this, but he says it every time he takes a bath these days. We do talk about getting water on the floor and how he needs to keep it in the tub. He's such a Chatty Cathy these days!
Hi, I'm Kaylan, a mom, freelance court reporter, and avid crafter. I'm married to my best friend and the best stay-at-home dad ever. We live in the suburbs outside of Indianapolis. Almost all of our family is back in Iowa except for my sister Keriann and her fiance Derrick. I talk about them a lot on here too; so if you see their names, you will know who they are.
I dabble a little in just about everything and love to blog about all of it. So grab your coffee and your laptop, kick back, and stay a while. Enjoy the show!
