12 Weeks

I finally got Perry's 12 week picture uploaded.  She is so sweet and just a joy to have in our family!!  It's so crazy to think that it's been three months already!  I need to get her three month pics scheduled soon.  It kind of snuck up on me!  Right now Perry enjoys cooing, talking to us, playing in her floor mat thing, looking at the Christmas tree, and screaming.  That's right.  Every once in a while she just lets out this random scream-screech thing.  It's hilarious because she totally scares herself :)  She also (like all other babies) enjoys eating, pooping, and sleeping.

And because I love and good comparison and because people always ask if she looks like Miles did, here is a comparison shot of them.

Miles says the funniest stuff all the time.  I don't remember all of it, but I try to jot some stuff down just so I can remember.  He just started saying "no, no, no, no, no" really fast when he wants to tell me his way of doing something.

The other day I said, "I miss Daddy so much today!"  And Miles said, "Me either," which really sounds like, "me eeeeeeeeever."

Miles (bummed because I just told him he can't help me put mousse in my hair)  "Someday when I'm a grownup, when I'm a mommy, I'll get to do the fun jobs!"

11 weeks

Miss Perry is 11 weeks today.  She is filling out like a champ and getting in a nice schedule.  She got a hearing aid last week for her left ear, which has made a huge difference.  She is so much more alert when she is awake and then sleeps so much better as a result of being more stimulated!  I think she misses so much without it in.

I wanted to note a few things Miles has been saying lately because they crack me up.

This morning we cut up a pineapple.  He took a bite.  I said, "It's a little sour, huh?"  He said, "Uh-huh," with a sour face.  Then I asked if it was good.  He said, "It's kind of great!"

He asks me all the time, "Do you know about things, Mommy?"

While driving down the road, he started hollering out, "Uh-oh, look out, there's a bad guy in that tree over there!"  And then was on repeat during our drive.

While some friends and their boys were over the other night, he made a noise or something and looked at me and said, "Mommy, tell them to laugh."  We all cracked up and then laughed at his joke...he loved it!

I'm going to post more of these soon.  He cracks me up all day long.  I just wish I could remember all of the funnies:)

10 Weeks

I can't believe my baby is 10 weeks already!  I had a hard time choosing pictures this time.  Some of the other ones show better how chunky monkey she is, so I'm going to go ahead and post one of those too.

Thank goodness I can crop these, huh?!  See those sweet thighs?  She is already on her way out of 3 month clothes.  She was only in them for a couple weeks.

Weekly Pics 3 through 9

So we've been keeping up with taking the weekly pics, as you can see.  Definitely not keeping up with posting them here on the blog.  Here is a catch up post.  Hopefully now I can be better about regularly posting these!

Bag of Sunshine

One of my friends has been having a trying week. Her three kids have all been sick all week long! I decided to send a little gift of sunshine her way. I'm trying to be more intentional about loving on the women in my life. Who doesn't need a pick me up every now and then?

Here are all the fun yellow goodies. I even happened to have a bright yellow sack, tissue paper, and yellow card at home -- score!

A peak inside.

What are some ways people have shown you a little extra love? Any other cute ideas for me in blessing my next friend?

Perry's Week 1 and 2 Pictures

So if you don't personally know me, you may not know that we had our baby!  I'm happy to introduce Perry to you.  I have a feeling if anyone is checking in on this blog, it's going to be someone I know, though:)  I did the weekly pictures with Miles and have promised to do them with Perry too.  Here are her first two weeks:

My Week in Indy

Last week I headed out to Indy to do some work. They've been pretty busy, so I had the opportunity to head out for a good week of work. SRA kept me pretty busy, and Keriann kept Miles pretty busy. Here are a few pictures she took last week.

I got to Skype with Miles every night. That helped me since I missed him so much!

I got to have dinner with the Schmidts. We all miss them so much! I didn't even tell Miles I saw them because he would be so bummed.

Big Day Today!

We had a might big day today!  We met Maelyn and Jill at the zoo this morning.  We tried to get them both in one side of the egg, but Miles wasn't having that.  So we did this, then he couldn't take his eyes off her.
Of course Miles couldn't wait to get on the carousel!  He asked for the rooster.
After the zoo, we had lunch at Noodles & Company.  I had a delicious free noodle bowl for my birthday.  Yum-o!  Then Miles and I had to run to Target to pick up a birthday present for his buddy, Nolan, and some goodies for the Pinterest party we were going to this afternoon.  I took a little risk in going and not having Miles nap, but I knew he would have so much fun, so we went for it.

We went out to the Travis' house.  It was a beautiful day, and they have a great big, shaded backyard to play in!  There were loads of boys, lots of games, and tons of fun!

This was getting ready to do the Pinterest salt watercolor painting.
This is the balloon pinata pop thing.
Here's more of the painting.

We brought the marshmallow poppers.  They were okay.  The balloons kept coming off the cups, though.  I think I needed heavier cups.  And I set up the buckets thinking you could aim the marshmallows, but it was too hard.
Here is a shaving cream and Cheetos game.
Miles had so much fun!!

Then Derrick's cousin, Hunter, got moved up to JV and started tonight at the baseball game in Collins.  So since we were so close, we decided to go check the Raiders out.  Miles was still going strong and was in a great mood the whole afternoon, even though the nap was forgotten.
Then we left the game, cruised over to Maxwell to say HI to Uncles Tom and Jay at Logsdon's Grocery Store.  And we weren't out of Maxwell before Miles was fast asleep in the car.  I carried him in, and he slept on the couch for a while.  I was talking and cooking the whole time, and he just kept snoozing.  We had to get him up because I was worried about him not sleeping tonight.
What a fun, BIG, busy summer day!

My brother, Matt

My older brother, Matt, has been recently diagnosed with gastroesophogeal adenocarcinoma.  Or, cancer in his stomach and esophagus.  It's stage 3.  It is curable, but it's a tough cancer to beat.  It's going to be a long, hard road.  He's young, only 33, so his age is a huge positive in his fight.

If you want to follow along, Matt's blogging about it all here.  This is their family blog, but he made a cancer section.  So if you want to follow all his updates, here is his family blog link.

I snapped a few pics to document the happenings.  This is our first walk of many into the John Stoddard Cancer Center at Methodist Hospital in Des Moines.  That's Matt, Mom, and his Dad heading to the right.
Filling out paperwork.
Checked by the nurse.  This is Matt's wife Becky.
This is the second appointment.  Meeting with the oncologist and going over his PET scan.
We've set up a donate page on Matt's blog.  As you can imagine, this journey is going to be a huge financial burden for Matt and his family.  If you'd like to help, any amount, large or small, is much appreciated.  You can go to the link here.

We are going to have some fundraisers to help raise money for them too, so stay tuned for those.  And if you have any ideas/experience with them, pass them my way!

Lastly, I ask that you would keep my brother in your prayers.  He has a very positive attitude and is just beginning this long, hard journey.  Let's lift him and his family up!

More Father's Day

We grabbed some dinner last night at Claxon's with Dad, Carmen, Leeanna, Russell, Dakota, Keriann, and Derrick.  It was nice to catch up over a delicious BBQ meal!  I got a pic of Grandpa Rusty with Russell and Miles.
My favorite part of Father's Day this year?

T.J. felt the baby moving.  He never was really able to feel Miles last time.  He wasn't a big mover.  In the morning before we got up, the baby was really karate chopping in there, so I put his hand where he should feel, and pow!  The baby let him have it at least a handful of times.  Hello, Daddy!  Happy Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day!

Easing back into blogging...

A post full of pictures of my two manly men in my life on Father's Day.  It's so fun to look back at pictures of Miles and T.J. right after Miles was born.  Look at how little he is!  How does this happen so fast?  I know everyone says it, but seriously?!
We went out for brunch this morning at Noodle Zoo.  It was fantastic!  I eat lunch there at least once a week -- beer cheese soup and salad.  If you are in the Des Moines area, you've got to try it.  There's three locations now, I think.  Yum!

We did a little shopping, then came home for some fun outside.  A little "super" baseball was on the agenda.

Look at this beauty that's blooming right outside the back door!
T.J. wanted to hold Miles like a baby, you know, for old time's sake.  He's so stinking big!  You know he's big when he looks big in T.J.'s arms!  We're now up to 4T clothes, size 10 shoes.  He'll be 3 in September.  Makes it seem like he's growing up even faster when he's so big!

Miles was pretending to be asleep in these.  Ha!

Chicken Caesar Sandwich

If we're Facebook friends, you may have read that I have been craving Panera's chicken Caesar sandwich and tomato soup.  I can't get enough and could eat it every single day.  But it was getting  a little expensive on my fourth stop there in a week!  Yikes!  So I searched the internet for something similar I could make at home.  This isn't quite the same, but it's in the ballpark.

I found the recipe on Iowa Girl Eats blog.  I made the recipe as is except for the bread.  I just used regular bread and toasted it in the toaster.  Also, if you have a big Kitchen Aid mixer, use that baby to shred your chicken.  It's the best thing ever!  You just boil the chicken, throw it in there with the flat beater, let it do it's thing, and voila it's shredded.  Way easier than doing it with two forks!

Let me know if you give it a shot.  I'm in LOVE with it!

Happy Half Birthday, Miles!

I kind of flubbed on the half birthday this year. I saw it on the calendar but didn't do anything about it. After his nap I started singing Happy Half Birthday to You! He got so excited and said, "It's Miles' birthday!" over and over. So I asked him what he wanted for his birthday, and he said "CAKE!" Then he thought about it and said "Brobee cake!" So TJ and Miles ran to the store to get a cake and a little present. TJ was able to sneak that Spider Man past him. Then we sang, had cake (or just frosting in Miles' case), and played with Spider Man. It was a successful 2 1/2 birthday! I'm so looking forward to 3 and having a big party! He will be so excited and love it:)

Announcement

We interrupt the lame nothingness that this blog has become to make a very important announcement. Miles will be a big brother sometime around September 26th! Mommy and Daddy are so excited about this big announcement! Mommy has been feeling a little lousy but is feeling better each day. This Thursday she will be 12 weeks along. There may be a weekly bump picture in this blog's future. Why not? Nothing else much happening here:)
