Big Day Today!

We had a might big day today!  We met Maelyn and Jill at the zoo this morning.  We tried to get them both in one side of the egg, but Miles wasn't having that.  So we did this, then he couldn't take his eyes off her.
Of course Miles couldn't wait to get on the carousel!  He asked for the rooster.
After the zoo, we had lunch at Noodles & Company.  I had a delicious free noodle bowl for my birthday.  Yum-o!  Then Miles and I had to run to Target to pick up a birthday present for his buddy, Nolan, and some goodies for the Pinterest party we were going to this afternoon.  I took a little risk in going and not having Miles nap, but I knew he would have so much fun, so we went for it.

We went out to the Travis' house.  It was a beautiful day, and they have a great big, shaded backyard to play in!  There were loads of boys, lots of games, and tons of fun!

This was getting ready to do the Pinterest salt watercolor painting.
This is the balloon pinata pop thing.
Here's more of the painting.

We brought the marshmallow poppers.  They were okay.  The balloons kept coming off the cups, though.  I think I needed heavier cups.  And I set up the buckets thinking you could aim the marshmallows, but it was too hard.
Here is a shaving cream and Cheetos game.
Miles had so much fun!!

Then Derrick's cousin, Hunter, got moved up to JV and started tonight at the baseball game in Collins.  So since we were so close, we decided to go check the Raiders out.  Miles was still going strong and was in a great mood the whole afternoon, even though the nap was forgotten.
Then we left the game, cruised over to Maxwell to say HI to Uncles Tom and Jay at Logsdon's Grocery Store.  And we weren't out of Maxwell before Miles was fast asleep in the car.  I carried him in, and he slept on the couch for a while.  I was talking and cooking the whole time, and he just kept snoozing.  We had to get him up because I was worried about him not sleeping tonight.
What a fun, BIG, busy summer day!

My brother, Matt

My older brother, Matt, has been recently diagnosed with gastroesophogeal adenocarcinoma.  Or, cancer in his stomach and esophagus.  It's stage 3.  It is curable, but it's a tough cancer to beat.  It's going to be a long, hard road.  He's young, only 33, so his age is a huge positive in his fight.

If you want to follow along, Matt's blogging about it all here.  This is their family blog, but he made a cancer section.  So if you want to follow all his updates, here is his family blog link.

I snapped a few pics to document the happenings.  This is our first walk of many into the John Stoddard Cancer Center at Methodist Hospital in Des Moines.  That's Matt, Mom, and his Dad heading to the right.
Filling out paperwork.
Checked by the nurse.  This is Matt's wife Becky.
This is the second appointment.  Meeting with the oncologist and going over his PET scan.
We've set up a donate page on Matt's blog.  As you can imagine, this journey is going to be a huge financial burden for Matt and his family.  If you'd like to help, any amount, large or small, is much appreciated.  You can go to the link here.

We are going to have some fundraisers to help raise money for them too, so stay tuned for those.  And if you have any ideas/experience with them, pass them my way!

Lastly, I ask that you would keep my brother in your prayers.  He has a very positive attitude and is just beginning this long, hard journey.  Let's lift him and his family up!

More Father's Day

We grabbed some dinner last night at Claxon's with Dad, Carmen, Leeanna, Russell, Dakota, Keriann, and Derrick.  It was nice to catch up over a delicious BBQ meal!  I got a pic of Grandpa Rusty with Russell and Miles.
My favorite part of Father's Day this year?

T.J. felt the baby moving.  He never was really able to feel Miles last time.  He wasn't a big mover.  In the morning before we got up, the baby was really karate chopping in there, so I put his hand where he should feel, and pow!  The baby let him have it at least a handful of times.  Hello, Daddy!  Happy Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day!

Easing back into blogging...

A post full of pictures of my two manly men in my life on Father's Day.  It's so fun to look back at pictures of Miles and T.J. right after Miles was born.  Look at how little he is!  How does this happen so fast?  I know everyone says it, but seriously?!
We went out for brunch this morning at Noodle Zoo.  It was fantastic!  I eat lunch there at least once a week -- beer cheese soup and salad.  If you are in the Des Moines area, you've got to try it.  There's three locations now, I think.  Yum!

We did a little shopping, then came home for some fun outside.  A little "super" baseball was on the agenda.

Look at this beauty that's blooming right outside the back door!
T.J. wanted to hold Miles like a baby, you know, for old time's sake.  He's so stinking big!  You know he's big when he looks big in T.J.'s arms!  We're now up to 4T clothes, size 10 shoes.  He'll be 3 in September.  Makes it seem like he's growing up even faster when he's so big!

Miles was pretending to be asleep in these.  Ha!
